It's absolutely laughable when Mags scramble around for a way to defend the indefensible. The best one is when they say 'Why didn't you protest when the Saudis were torturing gays.' The sad hypocrites never ask themselves 'How come we didn't protest about zero contract hours until Ashley stopped financing the club?' They really are deluded but, in this case, think they can pull the wool over everyone else's eyes ... .... sorry, but this will follow them around for the rest of their days. please log in to view this image "The latest action follows protests by Newcastle fans over SD’s work practices and treatment of agency workers at its main warehouse in Shirebrook.
The torture of gay people, the persecution of Christians, Jews and others, the beheading of people, the imprisonment of political opponents , to mention just some of the Saudis offences against common decency and morality are not allegations. They are demonstrable facts. The Saudis do not even attempt to cover them up, so contemptuous of the West are they. The Chairman of PIF is Mohammed Bin Salman. He is the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, the most senior politician in the country, and second in influence only to the King, whose role is part ceremonial. The single beneficiary of PIF is the Saudi State. If you really believe that the PIF are not connected to the state, then you clearly do not understand what a Public Investment Fund is, or more startlingly, you believe the Premier League, when they say they have " assurances". And by the way, it doesn't matter how long anyone has been on the case about these savage barbarians. They are on it now, they won't be getting off it, and they will be joined by many others. In my own case its been about forty years since I was maneuvered into working there for a spell, and refused to go back. No amount of textual gymnastics or self delusion can ever change the facts. There is no longer a club there, instead a hapless front for a widely reviled country.
It's kind of sad because apart from wealth football clubs were on a relatively level playing field and banter was light hearted and went both ways. Now all anyone has to do to shut down any argument with the mags is say 'your owners kill people' and there's no possible come back. Things have changed forever. Even if the Saudis sold up tomorrow the way the mags have embraced them has been seen by the world and there's no way back.
For the rest of time we'll be able to say, "We beat Newcastle 6 times in a row before the club vanished."
This is the heart of it for me. I can't say I've ever kicked up a fuss about Saudi Arabia previously but it does, even as a Sunderland fan, make me sad to see what they've become. Newcastle United Football Club has been replaced by Newcastle United Propaganda Machine. #NUPM
Correct. And it matters not one jot whether or not you or anyone else has previously been critical of the horrors perpetrated by the Saudis. It is sufficient to be so now, if you are now more aware of the atrocities committed by them, and they offend you.
It’s a bit worrying for Newcastle because Villa will get the new manager bounce that they got when they appointed, oh! wait a minute
I've no idea why the Mags keep banging that drum on a football forum, well I suppose it's all they have tbh. They wouldn't go on here .... https://www.amnesty.org/en/location/middle-east-and-north-africa/saudi-arabia/report-saudi-arabia/ .... asking why people weren't attacking the proposal of a European Super League. Being a football supporter and a member of Amnesty aren't mutually exclusive. There have been human rights issues discussed on here when Qatar bought the World Cup. People on football forums are appalled that a barbaric country has been allowed to buy one of our football clubs. It would be the same if Russia or China bought a club, people simply don't want brutal countries to buy up our clubs. Now it's happened people naturally talk about the purchase of a football club on a football forum. It doesn't mean they haven't talked about human rights issues elsewhere ... ... I'm a church going Christian but I don't post threads, on a football forum, about my work at the local food bank. Hope that stops Mags using this ridiculous excuse of an argument. (NB, it won't.)
Your post has made me think a moment about how aware I was of Saudi Arabia's laws, human rights abuses etc and I can say it's not more now. The media circus around the original bid, the failing of it, the mags blaming absolutely everything possible, only for people aware of the state of things over there to point out this should be enough to stop them ever owning a football club to sportswash. Which in turn has made the majority of football fans of all clubs pay a bit more attention and look into it more. We then have he premier league telling us they have assurances the state isn't involved when there is no way any person looking at this deal can see that being right. I mean we are supposed to believe Saudi Arabia's public investment fund doesn't involve the state. Which has raised questions of the premier league. Then other clubs have quickly jumped to put things in place to try and prevent them splashing the cash. Several of them being complete ****ing hypocrites as they have had votes recently to leave the league for a European super league for money and here aas the vote before that wanting a bigger share if the cash for the big clubs but now they want it to be fair. Then we have the mag hypocrisy protesting Ashley and his zero hour contracts a few years after thinking he was ****ing great. But Saudis come along and they flying flags and putting tea towels on their heads saying they have their club back. When the reality is they couldn't give a **** what the owners do if they are rich and wanting to buy success. All in all I would say so far the sports washing project is doing the opposite. Well except sky sports and talk sport who now knock one out every chance they get at how rich they are and how they will be buying anyone they want.
Fact is none of you ****ers would have piped up about this had it been spurs or arsenal who had got bought out, how very convenient that it’s your local rivals though. Hopefully see you in a few years back in the big time, it’s ****ing embarrassing how long it’s taking you to get out of the Turd Division but at least you have some new ammo to fire over at us now (with more likely to come once we start winning stuff) to keep you entertained cos the football sure as **** can’t be!!
So why is it that you appear to be becoming hated by every other club? Thought NUFC were everyone’s second team according to the press and your fans? Not any more
The sad hypocrites never ask themselves 'How come we didn't protest about zero contract hours until Ashley stopped financing the club?'
Yeah you have a very good point here, it is only Sunderland fans piping up! Oh wait didn't someone have to go running to the police cause palace fans had a banner with a few home truths on it? Didn't a human rights activist point out the hypocrisy of NUFC supporting a player come out while their owners have a gay man in jail for posting topless photos? I saw an article the other week about how easy mags were to sports wash and how sky etc are happy to go along with isn't this great agenda, while football supporters across the country won't easily forget. But yeah just Sunderland fans.
