Certainly I would never dream of going to the SOL again if I was to be used as a cheer leader and human face for a barbaric regime for whom torture, repression, terrorism , slave labour, apartheid and religious persecution are normal behaviour.

I agree that the Town Moor is a bit of a waste of space, however it does border the affluent suburbs of Jesmond and Gosforth the populations of both are not noted as being ardent supporters - the NIMBY brigade would be out in force if there was any suggestion of getting rid of their dog walking spots for a shiny new 60,000 stadium and parking and the objections would rocket in. The council would be hard pushed to make a valid case for allowing it I think.

There's plenty of space out towards Scotswood which would be much easier to push through.
