he said in his apology he meant no disrespect and felt very guilty - it was an honest mistake made by someone who got caught up in the moment and clearly felt far more passionate about that game than his opposite number. had he refused to shake his hand or not taken the time to go and find him afterwards and apologise it would be slightly different but only one of the managers showed himself up yesterday and it wasn't the novice. banging on about etiquette! this is the man who once punched robert fleck during a match at carrow road
No mate, anyone could have walked into Planet Blue and bought tickets over the counter, no questions asked, simple as, or an IP postcode would have done it too.
point scoring? surely the only point scoring is coming from the norwich players with their actions on the pitch. what did you think of mick's less-than-caring attitude after the game? i'd have been furious. clearly didn't matter to him.
Wasn't mm asked about it by sky, and he said that was between him and the other manager end of. Hardly banging on about it.
In the press McCarthy was banging on about how his taken part in many different derbies and nothing comes close to the Old Firm, he didn't seem very impressed and was practically saying that the Norwich Ipswich rivalry isn't that special.
Special to us though, isn't it? It cost me the best part of £150 yesterday and we lost...but I wouldn't have rather been anywhere in the world than in the Sir Bobby at 12:15 yesterday.
It most certainly is important. The big problem I have about the fixture is the way it's billed in the media 'It's a forgotten about derby' 'It might not be as high profile as the Merseyside or Tyne & Wear derby' 'You can't say the fans are not passionate about this fixture' it's like the media are trying to seek approval of neutral fans or as clubs we both have massive inferiority complexes and need to be reassured that we're both important clubs in the world of English football.
He could of been misquoted but I imagine him saying it in a very flat monotone voice and that vacant look he has, but most knowledgable football fans will say this game in big for both clubs, he tries to sort of dig himself out at the end. http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/ipswich_chief_mick_mccarthy_plays_down_east_anglian_derby_hype_ahead_of_norwich_city_s_visit_1_3738570
As a Canary fan for over 40 years, I can't get into this results oriented focus. Yes, city were the best team on the day, and could have won by more. But Ipswich were by no means a write off. Football is a game of fine margins. Had either McGoldrick or Murphy converted the good chances they had, things might have been very different. A 1-0 win is no trouncing. Yes, Grabban and Lafferty had good chances, but they didn't convert them either. It was a close game, well contested, and fair credit to both teams.
Well you must have watched a different game to the rest of us then mate. That's the worst Ipswich side in living memory and we 'thrashed' them 1-0 without getting into second gear. We did what we had to do to beat them without breaking sweat, that is all
