Mafia XI - An Unknown Evil -GAMEOVER Town/Anarchist Victory!

Let me rephrase: it is possible game could end before night 5... Just highly unlikely. I was incorrect when saying it would definitely end on day 5.

 

Deff need to get some kind of voting pattern going! Looks like the medium is going to be able to have a massive say on who wins this one.

 

This further proves my point that there are people in the game with the power to kill, and most likely more than 1/2 as there are quite a few of us in the game.

 

Usually with a no lynch option the best strategy is sit and wait for detectives to reveal information without killing innocents. This game has a fixed length though so there's a time pressure to prevent the evil winning by day 5.

But no known innocent to pick the random targets means the proposer is just a suspicious as the one he nominates. So not much to be learned IMO unless the mafia do a Valley-style blatant ****up.

As boring as it sounds maybe first day we should just not make any unforced mistakes rather than trying to manufacture a win with **** all info about the rules let alone who is innocent.

I don't mind how boring it is as long as we win. Oh yeah, and I hope that @InBiscanWeTrust stops talking about his bird (must be in love).

Honestly, I think my tactic is the only way to panic the bad guys. No voting just means they'll no doubt be able to kill without even trying.

On that basis I vote Less Hope.

 

Let's assume some things.
A) 18 players. If there are 2 teams this would mean the likelihood is there are 4 bad guys to 14 good. High probability of killing innocents first whatever we do. If there are 3 teams, it is likely, damn it is essential good outweighs net bad, thus it is likely the bad guys each have 3 in a team, the good have 12. If there are 4 teams, I suspect it will be tricky for the town whatever happens.
B) we must assume that within our team there are players with abilities, just as the bad guys have abilities, and I suspect recruiting maybe possible for teams within our innocent side. We must use that to our advantage, keep your role hidden, no matter what.
C) the medium has substantial power in the game in terms of knowledge, and will likely singlehandedly decide the game based on who they side with. We need their knowledge later on, not now, as their knowledge plus voting patterns equals us having more of a clue!

 

I can already see that this game is going to hurt my head.

So, barring a major server issue, does the game definitely end on/by Friday?

Yes. Definitely over by Friday evening (barring technical difficulty keeping majority of people out). It is possible that it ends earlier... but unlikely.

 

Will be out tonight, but will be active tomorrow. For now though, IBWT

 

I think at this point theres no harm in a quick summary. Yes yes I know.

What do we know for sure:

1. I know nothing about anyone on this game at all. Not even a table of possible roles to start eliminating people

2. I Know there is a medium who knows what the roles are but not who has those rules. So this person will be looking for clues and trying to figure out whats going on.

3. I know that at the end of day 5 (friday) there will be some rising of an evil force, milk has been deliberately circumspect with what that means or who is affected including the medium.

4. there are lots of hidden things going on.

5. we can vote no lynch but we don't know actually what that means or what a tie means until we test it,

6. There has to be some bad guys or else it would not be a competition. the rules say there are some with murder on their minds. Meaning there has to be more than one killer on the prowl?


What can we guess?

1. very little.

2. I think given the numbers (18 players) there will be either one or two teams. If one then there could be a team of 4 our there talking to each other plotting how to vote etc as normal. square root of 18 = 4.2 so a standard game would have 4 mafia... If there are two teams it might be 2 teams of 2 or 3...

3. Day 1 is going to be a total in the dark game for us. We don't know what roles there are or anything but the worst case is we have to assume that the mafia know more than us.

4. Protecting the medium is everything for the town. he will know most so will be best placed to figure out who is acting odd. My advice to the medium is the same i give all players. Do yourself two tables. One with the roles written on it and put in what you know for sure. eventually you'll find the list of unknowns gets shorter and shorter and this really helps. On the second table list all our names and start writing in what you see as odd or hints towards the roles people might have.. this is your guess table.. eventually table 1 and 2 line up and you go... ahhhhhhh.. gotcha.
