Off Topic Mafia game STARTS 1st June

I assumed funky was the suicide bomber as it looked like he was trying to cause a scene and get lynched

I was expecting someone to try and get lynched for the suicide attempt, really thought that was it...

Instead just a dodgy Mackem

I still don't quite get what happened when you saved me from a lynch but then didn't follow through and kill me? Thought that was the whole point in saving me

When you were up for vote and had to take you out of the kill I decided I'd have to flip you and try and get in your good books instead, in a game with 2 detectives, a SK, an angel and a vamp at that stage I wanted to cover my bases as thought it was likely that **** would happen in the night to create a more pressing target than you the next night. When you went out at the front of the vote I was tempted to leave it but my gut call was not to as A. I had a SK/Vamp read on Valley, B. I thought it was the town thing to do, C. Thought it'd buy me good favour with you and since you were already on Magic and I felt like you were going to be follow onto Billy I wanted room to be able to work you away from them if possible. My gameplan as mafia is to approach things from a town perspective, at times I even had to stop myself from posting stuff to help guide town that others weren't mentioning. I even still write out my usual notes and reads from a town perspective and then keep secondary mafia notes. So I switched my vote to try and save you and buy credibility, then AFC put Valley out in front, I clicked over to the mafia board to submit you for the kill last second, and then the clock hit 8:00... So yeah, it was close!

Overall I think ending was quite good.

You guys think it was stacked in your favour but when it came to the end it was heavily in your favour as you had 2 kills and a potentially angel kill to help you. We had to make sure we didn't lynch the suicide bomber so getting the right one between Magic & Billy was crucial. Pick the wrong one and as you pointed out, you could switch last minute, kill and lynch one of us and win.

To be fair, going into that day we had seen off 9 enemies and 4 detections with barely a scratch on us (Though it's not like dodgy town play didn't help us ), it should be in our favour there. In a normal game a town:mafia ratio of 4:3 should pretty much be a foregone conclusion victory for mafia. It wasn't meant to be a complaint at how the game was set-up, it was meant to be a quick game so it was meant to be a bit mental with killing roles and roles in general and I really enjoyed the challenge, but just as someone who has played a good amount of mafia objectively that was by far (and I mean by far) the hardest set-up for mafia I've ever seen. Firstly there was only 3 mafia, standard ratio would be 4 mafia, there were 2 detectives both with easy means to release their info (the balance mechanic for a detective is usually the risk they must take to disclose what they find out), a medic with self-save (standard medic can't self-save), a vigilante with two kills, a randomly activated town-aligned SK, a normal SK and a rival faction. Again, this isn't a moan at the set-up as I think it went great and achieved what it was meant to, and from how these games have gone with a lot of new mafia players I think the set-ups should be town-skewed, just feedback I guess.

We've only had a doctor once before (me) and I didn't save anyone. I used the role to manipulate the Mafia; ie to declare myself as a innocent (on day three) and bluff about who I was protecting. The town managed to win that game

Also just want to put out there that some of the ghosting that went down was really pretty ****ty, the pointless personal arguments are one thing, but we really shouldn't have known that Tennisball was the angel and ACS was the Vigi if that's now how the game mechanics were meant to work, it totally changed the game. I can say personally my game plan would've been pretty different if I didn't know Tennisball was angel and finding out ACS was the Vigi changed the dynamic of how the final day went. It's always crap to die especially early and not being able to effect things or get your 2 cents in can be physically painful, but suck it up lads.

Really I over powered the vampires rather than the mafia. That's where I balanced it with kills and the easier info getting out.

It was original 15 not 16 so yes I would have had 4 not 3 but that was last minute change

I don't see how knowing who the angel was made much difference?

They were still involved just didn't get involved in what they were doing (other than the odd "like" here and there).

I wouldn't mind putting my name forward to host a game, its only fair as I've played in enough of them. But obviously due to the fact I work during the week from 8 till 5, I wouldn't be able to do the morning update stuff. And I'm not the most patient so I'd have to steal someone else's template & rules for a game.

All my reasoning up until that point was based on the vigilante and vampire being different people, now whilst I was wildly off with my conclusions, from that point onwards I would have continued down a different thought process if that info wasn't revealed and I assume others were the same. Did anyone honestly think he was the vigilante and the vamp? I doubt it.

I know I got involved in the AFC thing and for that I'll apologise as I should have left you to the game. I didn't influence the game in any way with any others comments I made and I actually moaned about some of the ghosting AND edited a ghosting post as I didn't think it was fair. I also moaned to MITO about the tags and liking of comments but there isn't much can be done to stop either of those.

But I did consider offering to host a game, I have a couple of ideas, but I'd need to set nightfall later and not sure if I'd do a daytime update.

I've said similar but because of work (8.30am to 4.30pm) and family **** (three kids and the mrs works 5pm to 8pm and doesn't drive so I have to drive her both ways) I can't guarantee I'll be about at set times. I've said before that I'm happy to do it if people accepted random nightfalls but I don't think that would work


Edit: I very rarely see nightfall happen, usually miss the last twenty minutes or so and don't find out whats happened until about 8.15pm

I agree, knowing who the angel was didn't really matter but that's not really the point. You shouldn't have known.

I think the worst bit was done by ACS in letting you all know he was previously the vigilante too. At that time, the Mafia didn't know whether the vigilante was about or not, the town didn't know if it was 5-2 or 4-3 or if they still had a gun man in their ranks. It made a difference to the rest of the game and there was absolutely nothing MITO could do to change it.

You must be a bit of a grafter working those hours, surprised you have any time to play mafia

And no, somehow I don't think random nightfalls would work, especially for the mafia

Agreed on tags and likes too, it's not a massive deal but if you're dead it's not in the spirit of the game to try and influence things even in the tiniest of ways.

On the angel, I had a read on how Tennis played from before he died, and then from his ghostly apparitions too I felt I had an idea of how he would go about his angelic smiting, then in the final day he liked almost every single one of my posts (I was getting non-stop notifications haha) and so even before Funky volunteered to be angel'd I knew he'd pick Funky over me if it came down to that choice so played accordingly. It's a little different as it's weird having a role be dead but still in the game and affecting things, and I know it must have been painful for Tennis still having a big role to play and being involved without being able to actually weigh in, but if he had of kept completely shtup I would've had no idea if it was him, RHC or Swarbs and plans would've had to have been altered.
