So our great plan so far is to not lynch anyone until the investigators know who the mafia are? Sounds sensible, but so boring. Since the journo's can't reveal themselves until they know all three names (four if the mafia convert), it'll be at least three nights until they can say anything. Two if they say two names and let the other journo find the other. 3 mafia in 13 players means a 23% chance of randomly choosing a mafia to investigate, so you'll get a mafia around every four nights. If we assume you hit the mafia in the middle of those four nights, then that's an expected 10 to 11 nights, or another couple of weeks, until the journos reveal themselves. Thank goodness we're not doing 48 hour rounds!

And there's no reason to talk to each other, because there's nothing to gain by it.

I'd prefer the voting strategy personally, if only because it at least sounds vaguely interesting (and seems more in keeping with the spirit of the game).

Alrhough I agree... Sounds classic mafia talk!

Voting for NOZZER

Ahhh revenge voting, the cornerstone of every nutritious breakfast.

In theory, the two detectives can reveal themselves after the third night since the mafia should have used their two kills and recruit by then. Of course, the recruit installs doubt into how trust worthy the detectives are too.

I'm assuming the mafia would wait until the journo's have revealed themselves before using their powers; their only hope is to then kill off the journos and recruit someone.

Well, on day one there is nothing to go on so I usually just go by gut feeling. It got Danilo nailed in the last game :)

Looking at the list of names, Bod and Obi Won are jumping out at me for some reason, Valley slightly too. Not saying these are the Mafia, just getting it out there to see how close my gut feeling gets me in these games <laugh>

There isn't a journo <doh>

How are the mafia supposed to win if they can only do 2 hits and 1 recruit... the townies only need to wait it out

I think random between everyone is actually best way to get 2 seperaye people

Problem with doing the random approach once the game as started is that it could be Mafia choosing who the randoms are. Maybe we could ask MITO to do the random number generated three times and that's who gets put in the lynch...?

They need to influence the lynching. Hence, sitting tight is a good strategy as they need the lynching more than us, our detectives and do the research whilst we wait.

I know but they cant if everyone votes no lynch and then wait until the detectives have completed all their checks in night round 254

Wooooooo, new mafia game!

Ok, so last time out I was the known innocent and everyone listened to me (<laugh>), and this time I know I'm an innocent so how about we just listen to me again? <whistle>

We seem determined to turn a fun game into a maths problem.

Albeit I don't mind maths problems so I'm happy to go with that...

So we are back to speaking = Guilty.
Shall we all just be quiet and say nothing to avoid suspicion.....would be an awesome game.

So what strategy are we going with for day one? Waiting out the entire game for the journos to play on there own sounds faaaaar to boring to me!

Is it worth getting a handful of people up for the chop and seeing what happens?

I'll vote gerrez to start with so I have a vote on the board but that's just because he is Teflon and won't actually die no matter how many votes he has. I fully expect to change my vote!
