If it were Karen And Brett from Leeds then I would suspect she would have had her surviving children taken away.
The point they lost any credibility was when they said they would not leave Portugal until they had found her, police said they were suspects.....they came home!
Yep, I bet it wouldn't have had well in excess of £10m spent if it was a family from a council estate too.
I also struggle to believe that washing a child's favourite teddy would be something any parent would do soon after they've gone missing.

poor parents... bad choice yes , but they paid a horrific price. I'll be pleased when this **** is charged and the story is disclosed, so that the witch hunters can perhaps let them suffer with their own actions and mourn their daughters murder and rape at the hands of the real evil in this. There's always going to be some **** telling people it's all your own fault when someone's already got their head in their hands and suffering beyond description, but it will never be me ...nah **** that man.

I'm with Chaos. Until there is some conclusive evidence they were guilty of the crime, I have nothing but sympathy with them for making such a terrible decision which had consequences way beyond their probable worst case scenario.
I'm not down with all the judgey people in the world. COVID has brought that out in the ugliest way, but its always been there if you look at this and other cases.
If you leave your children alone, unattended while you have dinner then you deserve to be doing time/having your other children taken away.
The whole thing reeks of middle class privileged, today just as it did at the time.
I think I made myself clear... nobody deserves that.. nobody... they made a bad decision ... the price for that has proved to be incomprehensible, so I'm not going to be a dickhead and turn the knife.. they don't need mr or Mrs perfect reminding where they went wrong.. they've paid price already... I just ain't that person like I say . I'd rather put my arm around someone and just be kind.
Agreed CC - I hope those throwing accusations around suffer something similar in their lives... imagine having to live with the thought that people thought you were guilty of murdering your own child... abhorrent!

I will stick with my original comment, Tracy and Brian from Leeds would have had social services take the remaining children away. They made a mistake, but that mistake wasn't not putting factor 50 on her and some sunburn, they left her alone, so (allegedly) someone could take her. They fled Portugal the moment they were made suspects by local police, after stating they would stay until she was found.....

I don't care nobody deserves to lose a child to a rapist murderer and like I say they've paid the worst price imaginable , so rather than kick someone while they're down I'd rather put my arm around them because of what's happened rather than stand there saying " you get what you deserve " nah not me , but you can take your own stance mate

well that's true, but I think this is the guy ... 30 year old white male with history of child sex offences in the area at the time... not only does he fit the general profike, but had two vehicles, one vehicle he changes ownership on the day after she vanished....
OJ was charged and tried by his peers, they have not been.
I use to think similarly to you but my opinion is now that they would have been charged and put in front of a court if there was any evidence that they did comit the crime. My opinion of the Portuguese police putting them as "suspects" is that they bodged their investigation and were looking to get the pressure off themselves.
I'm not a massive sympathizer for them and probably use to think they did it as well AND I'll give you - absolutely horrendous decision making parenting from them BUT for all that I do still feel bad for them until they are proven guilty then if so - death penalty...

Quite frankly I honestly do hope it was the parents and over sedation. Other thoughts of what may have occurred are far worse!
