No they aren't. If it ever gets built come back and tell us from your grave. It's all talk and will never happen under Levy.
Global Fanbase Revenue etc. It's likely we will have a new stadium within the next 6-7 years as well so even then that's not an advantage yourselves or Arsenal will have over us for a sustained period. We are pretty much turning in a profit now and have one of the best academies in Europe. We're well placed to succeed even if/when FFP comes in.
It's all very well having a global fan base, but what do they actually contribute to the club? Most of them are wearing cheap knock-off kits that they bought down the market and streaming games illegally. There are very few countries that it's actually worthwhile to have a fan base in. I suspect it's very unlikely that you'll have a new stadium in 6-7 years. More like 10-15 years, RBKC are bound to make things very difficult for you, whereas ours will be ready for 2016/17. And to say you have one of the best academies in Europe is utter fantasy - who have you actually produced in the last 5 years who's key to your team/who you sold for a significant fee? The answer to that is nobody, until that happens all your young academy prospects are exactly that, prospects.
True, but the reason for that isn't to do with the fact that CFC do not have a great academy, it's purely down to the fact that Mad Dog wants and demands instant success, so his managers simply will not give any of the youth players their chance. What ever we might think about United's appointment of Moyes as manager, it does at the very least signal that club's long-term intention to go for stability - the kind of stability that enables the manager to develop his youth players and find the next Beckham, Scholes, Butt, Neville, or Giggs. That will never happen at Chelsea whilst Mad Dog is in control.
I haven't seen a Chelsea fan in real life for months. If their global fanbase is indeed bigger than ours then they must all be abroad. I see lots of Arsenal/Spurs fans, no Chelsea. How does having a bunch of 6yr old Indonesian kids (example) supporting Chelsea make them bigger? Especially when said Indonesian kid will be a City supporter soon?
Lets not get carried away, you made a very small profit one year in the last decade, and that was due to the large sums of money you received for winning the champions league, hardly a sustainable business model to expect to be winning the champions league to turn a profit. Combine that with the fact you spent around 80 million net in the transfer market last summer, that will start to show up in your accounts over the next 2 - 3 years, it will still be very difficult for Chelsea to continue to show a profit on a regular basis.
Still trying to get over the "one of the best academies in Europe" claim. Yeah right, Dortmund, Barca, Ajax, Sporting et al must be quaking in their boots
I don't think CFC has a bad academy, it's quite good, in fact. But it isn't up to the same standard as Saints or WHU.
You really are getting worse by the day. It's hard to imagine how you could be more wrong especially in a week when we've just signed the 2nd biggest kit deal in the history of world football. Why the **** would addidas be giving us that deal if they weren't selling ****ing kits you total baffoon.
I'm not saying that they don't sell a substantial number of kits - what I'm saying is that a fan in Indonesia/Thailand is not equal to a fan in England in terms of fiscal contribution to the club. I'd estimate that 90% of Indonesianss who, when surveyed, say they are Chelsea fans, do not actually have the means to buy official merchandise - 20% of the country earn less than $1.25 per day.
You did not say anything like that in the post I commented about. Having been shown how ridiculous your post was you're now scrambling to save face and suggesting we should have been able to read your mind. Pathetic.
At what point did you prove my post to be ridiculous? My original post stated that 'fans' in less developed parts of the world didn't tend to buy real kits, you then questioned it, so I produced some facts. If you have no rebuttal to these facts I suggest you toddle along, chum.
It satisfys the taxman and ffp I suppose to a point. It wouldn't be like Abramovich at all to have some holding company buy shares in Adidas subsidising his own money into Chelsea through them. Its worth approximately 30m a year, one player and his wages for you lot so lets not get overexcited. So in answer as to why Adidas would do it, ask the top nobs at Adidas...the one with the new yacht! Circumnavigating financial rules is I expect, beyond your comprehension. Btw, you'll see I deleted the comment containing the word 'baffoon' as you're unable to spell it...kind of making you the buffoon!
