It seems I'm the only one that doesn't rate highly SWP or Mackie as wingers. Maybe Real Madrid spoiled me with their wingers who can beat 2 or 3 players in a row and continuously bombard from wings. I'll not make any more attacks on them as clearly I don't see what all of you do.

Dont get me wrong - SWP has been dire all season, and last. Only in the last couple of games under HR has he actually carried out basic wingers tasks. He wasnt brilliant - none of them were - but was my rangers MOM today.

Mackie doesnt have the skill but has the workrate to force mistakes.

There a much better wingers out there, and I guess playing both SWP and Mackie limits us, but if I had to choose one it would be Mackie to play.

It is quite true that Mackie's form has dropped in the last couple of games, though in my opinion this has come from being moved back onto the wing to make way for Cisse.

In our current predicament, I still believe that Mackie should start through the middle either in place of Cisse (who seems to do his scoring in the 2nd half), or partnering Cisse in a pair. After all, his two PL goals have come from him starting at centre-forward.

True, Mackie's not the greatest of players, but his willingness to chase and harry the opposition defence does create space and opportunities for others. Plus our forward line isn't the quickest anyway, and having a pacy centre-forward always offers a convenient out-ball if the situation requires a long clearance forward.

I fear the opposite. Liverpool are like Arsenal, most vulnerable after a good result and when full of confidence.

Liverpool may not be one of the biggest clubs in England anymore but it certainly is certainly one of the biggest re: level of expectation. Rodgers will know losing 2 on the bounce is near enough unthinkable going into a tough January, he will be treating this game as a must win rather than a game they can take their foot of the gas a little.

It's all set up for a cracker, if Liverpool lose than even as early as now they'd have to forget Champions League qualification for another year (can't see them catching 5 teams), if you guys lose then it puts your chances of survival at serious harm.

Good luck, I think they'll be tough but if you stop Suarez and Sterling, they are nothing special. Gerrard has declined spectacularly over the last 3 seasons.

I shouldn't have conceded ground to you yesterday DL. I should have stuck to my guns. West Brom were the harder of the two and they're out of the way now.

Liverpool are an absolute farce and any Mickey Mouse team could beat them. Even us!

(I'd keep Mackie ahead of Taarabt even though he is very limited.)

SWP is total cack, he shouldnt even be in the 25 man squad, Mackie is effective, I think he got 8 goals last year which is a good return for a winger.

We need to worry about the CF, LW, CB and GK positions before we think about replacing Mackie.

I wouldn't replace Mackie. I would replace Mackie OR SWP. I also think Mackie is better option.

    Trying is not succeeding.

He tries but will never be the premiership star we need him to be.

A couple of times yesterday SWP got himself into some good positions and his final ball was absolutely dire. The problem is he is actually better defensively, his ball control isn't great and he doesn't actually look like he can beat his man without the ball hitting his shin and bobbling off for a throw. Both his and MAckie's work rate can't be faulted and they do pressure people into making mistakes but is that really enough???

One day everything will look better. I hope.

We go on about passion, work rate and loving the shirt, but these have to be combined with quality in the top leagues. We can't get away with Mackie, Hill, Ferdinand, SWP, and potentially DJ in the New Year in the same team simply because sadly they are not good enough footballers, despite always giving 100%. The others, who have the quality at least on paper, have to start showing it consistently, these lads don't deserve the blame for being what they are.
