Excellent goal and performance, he seems back to his best. Miller's goal was outstanding as well...
What a class goal. He is a big lad who can run fast at ya and can control the ball runs through 'em. Great finish! Was he the difference 2nd half spurs and man city?
Jamie scored a fantastic goal, and could easily have netted a couple more. I really enjoyed watching his dynamic play, and also Jordan Rhodes (Huddersfield's prolific scorer) when he came on as a late sub. Wonder how much he would cost in the January transfer window? Definitely a great young prospect and also gives a good interview.
Great goal from Jamie and could have had a couple more. Very good display from him,,,should come back to us full of confidence!!
Jamie put in a great shift - watched the game, and he was superb - full of energy. Clip from Sunday papers up here are saying he had a great game, and commentator likened him to Archie Gemmell from the world cup in '78 against Holland - high praise indeed, will do his confidence the world of good.
From Sunday Mail Scotland star Jamie Mackie: Goal against Cyprus has washed away nine months of injury hell Nov 12 2011 Gavin Berry Jamie Mackie scores for Scotland against Cyprus COMEBACK star Jamie Mackie admitted nine months of rehabilitation had been well worthwhile after hitting a stunning goal in Cyprus on his Scotland return. The QPR striker struck the decisive strike after Kenny Miller's opener in the 2-1 friendly win over Cyprus in Larnaca's Antonis Papadopoulos Stadium after a year in the international wilderness. Mackie, who won his fourth cap in dark blue, featured for Craig Levein's men for the first time since scoring his first goal against the Faroe Islands at Pittodrie a year ago. The English-born strike star suffered a sickening double leg-break during an FA Cup tie against Blackburn Rovers just three months after that match and has only recently returned to his club side. But he admitted the pain of watching Scotland from the sidelines during their Euro 2012 campaign was greater than missing out for his club - so he savoured every moment of last night. Mackie topped it off with a fine solo goal and, speaking after the game in Cyprus last night, he said: "It's been a long road back for me and this feels really special. I have a lot of people to thank for getting me back to a level where I can again play for my country. "The lads have welcomed me back with open arms. I missed seven games, including the bulk of the qualifiers, and that was hard. Missing those qualifiers in the run-in to Euro 2012 was harder to cope with than missing club games. "The qualifiers were massive and mentally that was a hard time for me. It's nights like this that make it extra special for me. I'm so glad now that I put the extra mile in my recovery. "I've not managed 90 minutes yet for QPR so to get that game under my belt for Scotland is a huge thing for me. I'm pleased with how I played. I could have scored one in the first half but the keeper made a really good save. "As for my goal, I just decided to take the players on. Once I was in on the goalie I only had one thought in mind and that was to bury it in the net. I slid it nicely into the corner - it was a great feeling. "People expect us to come and roll over Cyprus. On paper they are lesser sides but it's not as easy as that. The conditions are difficult with the heat and when they have the ball they do keep it. "At the end of the day, though, we won and that keeps the momentum going. We kept the ball really well in spells - we have to try to do that the whole time." The fact Mackie scored such a good goal and it was still eclipsed by Miller says everything about the quality of the Cardiff City striker's opener on a night when he became Scotland's sixth-top scorer with 16 strikes. And the QPR man was quick to acknowledge that Miller's was the pick of the two goals. He said: "Kenny's was better. It was quality. I asked him if it was the best he'd ever scored - maybe not in terms of importance but certainly in terms of the quality. "It was a great finish. I was delighted with mine and I should be more like a striker and say mine was the better finish but I'll defer to Kenny on this one. "For Scotland to score two such good goals is great but overall we probably he ball better." Manager Levein fantastic goals. Kenny regularly for Scotland said: "They were nny has scored tland but I don't think he scored many better that. "It was a wonderful pass from Christophe Berra and a sublime finish. "And I was really thrilled for Jamie because he has been out for along time with a broken - and the first time comes back into the gets a goal and gives performance all round." Levein handed Huddersfield striker Rhodes in the 87th minute The Scotland boss said: "I did want to bring him on earlier but we didn't dominate the game as much as we would have liked. If it had stayed 2-0, he would have been on earlier."
JAY REWARDED FOR GOING 'EXTRA MILE' Jamie Mackie believes he has been rewarded for 'going the extra mile' during his ten month spell on the sidelines owing to a double leg break. Mackie returned to the international fray with Scotland on Friday night and capped a sublime individual performance with a stunning match-winning goal in Cyprus. Kenny Miller opened the scoring for the Scots with a textbook long-range volley, before Mackie's moment of magic put Craig Levein's side two goals to the good in Larnaca. The hosts pulled a goal back soon after courtesy of Demitris Christofi, but it was Scotland's night and Mackie was the talk of the town afterwards. "It's been a long road back for me and this feels really special," he said. "I have a lot of people to thank for getting me back to a level where I can again play for my country. "The lads have welcomed me back with open arms. I missed seven games, including the bulk of the qualifiers, and that was hard. Missing those qualifiers in the run-in to Euro 2012 was hard to cope with. "The qualifiers were massive and mentally that was a hard time for me. I'm so glad now that I put the extra mile in my recovery." Mackie's goal was quite extraordinary. Picking the ball up on the left flank, the former Plymouth Argyle man left two defenders trailing in his wake before expertly curling the ball into the left hand corner of the net from a tight angle. It was a goal worthy of the highest stage and a delighted Mackie told www.qpr.co.uk: "I just decided to take the players on. "Once I was in on the goalie I only had one thought in mind and that was to bury it in the net. I slid it nicely into the corner - it was a great feeling." iReader
