I've been trying to succintly phrase my opinions of TWF's 'opinions' and don't think I could have put it any better than this. You can include me in the 90% who agree.
Belaid was at Inter Milan, he's a full international and has played champions league football. I think that suggests he's a good player. The fact he's valued at ã2m and we got him for ã0 due to financial issues at his previous club, shows excellent management.
I don't like doing this as it makes it look like I agree with TWF, but Jamie Wood was at Man U, is a full international, and has played in the Champions League. The valuation is subject to somebody ever making a bid of that value.
Jamie Wood was an international for some small Island through some daft link. He also was never worth more than a free transfer. Don't think he played Champs league footy. So not a good example.

Like for like, the only possible change to Saturdays team from the first of the season that you could make is Ash for Corry Evans, and even that would be pushing it. After the Scunny game I wasn't sure what to make of NP, but since then I have been impressed with his dealings. Saying that, I think keeping Macca would have been good for the team, as cover, and from the Bullard Man City celebration it seems like he's good for team morale.
I believe with the team we got relegated with we could have made the play-offs, yes. Nigel is for whatever reason being offered far too many excuses for the completely unacceptable performances in the first half of the season. I didn't believe relegation was on the cards at the beginning of the season, in fact the worst we could have hoped for is where we are now. People like to pretend our PL squad was awful, but let's be honest we got relegated because of a poor decision from AP, and we didn't do a Derby, which was the main fear when we went up. Right, let's put it this way, we're apparently close to where we were with PB at this point in our promotion season, NP started with a better squad than PB inherited and has spent more money on transfer fees than PB did in the promotion season (I think). If he doesn't make the play-offs then it is in my opinion that he shouldn't get another chance, we need to employ a better manager who is capable of taking us back to the Premiership. Mid-table Championship shouldn't do any more, we shouldn't be afraid of being a big club. Honestly surprised nobody else has come up with that yet. It's honestly not. I express the same opinions in the pub as I do on here. I'll try and post more "IMO"s. Aah lexg, you appear to have taken quite an interest in me since you found out I was relatively young... Still, I'll humour you and respond. Firstly I'm studying maths, so I don't write many essays as such, there are a few but assignments are more for solving problems than writing essays. Secondly, I'm at Hallam, maybe "low rate" to you, but the course it offered was more relevant to the workplace than that of say Nottingham and York which I turned down. Now onto the footballing content of your posts, rather than me being a student, which for some reason you use as a case against me (Maybe you'll tell us why), I do come on here to complain about the Pearsons a fair bit yes, but with them being Manager and Chairman they do have a fairly big role at the club, so it only makes sense that an issue of the way we play or a player being unneccessarily loaned out would involve one if not both of those two. I refute the fact we are doing very well at present, though our recent results look good (there's no real denying that), I don't think the performances on the pitch reflect the results, in fact they're pretty dire, and though results come first, it wouldn't do any harm to see a bit of football being played now and again.
no goal scorers. me neither but i was prepared for a season of nothing much after the garbage of the previous 19 months. it was demoralised and vastly overpaid and had no goal scorers. we couldnt afford to keep it. the players had to go. did the entire allam takeover pass you by? the managers hands were tied behind his back. he had no chance to bring in the players he wanted in the summer. loanees frees and bosmans only. not my fear at all. we couldnt afford to keep those players, maths student! pb had been left with players we could afford to keep. the performances may have been dull but they are also getting better. players need to practise playing together to get used to each other. teams dont just gell. that is the way of football. that is why manchester united failed to win the league from 1967 to 1993. it took the leagues most successful manager ever seven years to win the league with all the resources manchester united had at their disposal and you want to sack the manager of a club - a club that emerged 2 months ago from its direst ever financial situation and has HAD TO jettison most of its relegation squad to survive - if he fails to make the playoffs? we now have a goalscorer with 6 goals in his first 6 starts. when did we last have a player with 6 goals in his first 6 starts? good luck with reality.
Obviously there must have been some truth in his "excuses" becuase now hes got his way he doesnt need his excuses.
The squad that Brownie inherited wasn't bad, a starting XI of Myhill, Ricketts, Turner, Delaney, Dawson, Garcia, Ash, Marney, McPhee, ***an and Forster was decent enough and in our promotion season Brownie was allowed to run up a debt of ã9m by bringing in the likes of Deano, Okocha, Pederson, Folan and Parlour, costing more than Pearson has spent(Pearson has spent twice as much as Brownie on transfer fee's, but has spent far less on wages). We are currently 4th in the form table, both our results and our performances have improved since Pearson was allowed to bring his players in, we are replacing poor overpaid players with talented youngsters and it's paying dividends, which is why your opinion of him is unjustified. We are building a squad for the future, something that despite his success Brownie never managed and the future under the Allam's and the Pearson's looks very bright, which is why almost everyone except you is happy.

I have no issue with you being a student or being young, as such. Where the relevance comes in is when you discuss the club and the management and ownership etc. In my opinion it is difficult to comment so strongly on the subject when your knowledge and experience is so recent on the subject. Ignoring the two years in the prem (which I didn't particularly enjoy) we are mid table in the Championship and on a decent run even though we were on the verge of going out of business. Looking at our history with dodgy owners and managers, we are currently in safe hands. Your comments about playing better quality football strikes me as a bit of a premiership fan who dallies with a local club but thinks they should all play like Man Utd? I may be wrong but how you can not be happy with how the club is progressing defies all logic. As does ignoring the fact that Nige is building a team almost from scratch and yet our results have been decent.

We were linked with him way back when he was playing for Dunfermline. He was like a cross between Cort (head on a stick) and Zayatte (heart attack inducing and can play DM as well), I'm convinced the only reason we were linked was because I was sat next to the press box in one of our bench jackets on a regular basis and Cort had just left.
TWF, you do the maths. You say Svens actions at Leicester seem to be working but NP's at Hull aren't. On Friday Leicester play Bristol City. They should win but may not. Could be a 0 - 1 to Bristol (say). We play Ipswitch on Saturday. Should win, lets say we do 0 - 1. We are then equal on points, but we have a +5 Goal Diff. and they have a 0 GD. We swap places in the Table. A set of possibilities not too fantastic to contemplate. Where does this leave your infatuation with all things Sven? I note you are at Hallam. You don't seem to support Sheffield (either of them) and your views on here suggest to me that you don't support Hull, so where are you from, who (if anyone) do you support, and how often have you actually been to a Hull City match? Please do me the courtesy of answering my questions (honestly) and I'll do you the courtesy of listening to, and respecting (but not always agreeing with) your opinions.
