Apart from having a bad knee injury, there is no other similarity between the two of them whatsoever. Stewart has **** loads of skill but doesn't have the right attitude at all. Hobbs is universally admired for his fantastic attitude and he will definitely come back stronger, even if it takes time for him to get fit again. Ridiculous comparison. That back 4 lasted a game and a half before Solano was dragged off for McShane at Milwall, even though it was Gardner's fault rather than his that we were getting dicked. McShane played the next few games until Rosenior signed who as we know, is a far better player and rightly made the position his own.
Fully agree, it is ridiculous that we have fans who actually want him to fail, he has made fewer cock ups leading to goals than Chester this year, yet you know that the first time he does balls up there will be people all over here calling for his head on a platter. He is a good Championship standard centre back who is playing to his ability level at the moment and when everyone is fit i'd still have him as one of our 3 centre backs.
As well as agreeing this post is spot on - I also think there is a lot of this mentality in Hull generally - don't get me wrong I love the place, but whenever I go back people are generally negative / waiting for something ****e to happen. It's a strange thing that you don't see in many other places and I probably haven't described it well but it is a mentality that exists in Hull.
Fair enough, but Macca hasn't really ever had a chance, even when he's come in and done OK he's straight back out. I always feel like there's a big mistake in him, but he's been good since he came back in at centre half, and it would be harsh to drop him for me.
Mcshane has not been given a chance at hull city? are you ****ing kidding me? He's been here under 5 different managers and has been given many many many chances... and cocked many many many up... I'm sorry but when you've performed so badly for a club you cannot start saying **** about your manager. It's as if some of you have the memory of a goldfish and forgot all the dreadful tackles, own goals, penalties given and so on... he's been pretty appalling. I cannot understand how anyone (unless you're ginger or irish) can deny that. I'm pretty sure he's still on one of the bigger wages and has been enjoying it while the club needed rebuilding from top to bottom. Yet he has the nerve to say some of these things haha. If he wanted a chance so bad under NP and NB he would have left to another club (not sure who'd have wanted him though) but oh wait... he wouldn't be getting anywhere near the same amount of money... can't have it both ways Mcshite
Don't see why he should be void of criticism at all? He may have been good for the most part whilst he's been back in the team this season but he's still made a good few of his traditional absolute howlers which can just happen any time from nowhere. Luckily we haven't really been punished for most them thanks to a combo of our other defenders covering well, the keeper doing some fantastic work or just purely the oppositions complete inability to take advantage. He can play great for 89 minutes but there's always 1 minute he can play an inch perfect through ball to enemy strikers to go 1 on 1, or let what should be nothing more than an easy clearance just roll through his legs. This is mcshanes problem and the reason he will probably never be good enough. Yes he may have won us the game on Saturday but he also tried his best to give it to forest on 3 occasions we managed to escape from.
He's always one step away from an epic fail, I agree he's done OK myself but would rather see Hobbs back
McShane is a liability who is prone to having the occasional outbreak of a few half-decent games, but like Alex Bruce - who has somehow escaped any criticism for the numerous opportunities he has presented opposing forwards and the number of goals he has been at fault for - is generally a pretty **** player. Yes, James Chester has been pretty mediocre this season, but from his performances in the last two years we know he could potentially be a Premier League centre-half. Chester is much better suited to playing in a back-four alongside superior players such as, say, Jack Hobbs. He is paying for Bruce's decision to play 3 defensive players, and also for Bruce's decision to make Junior and/or Paul McShane one or both of the others.
Difference is you shouldn't want any City player to make a mistake/ fail but some people do- it's the same with Amos. People are already on his back and if he's played again there will be boos all around the KC. I doubt a mistake by Chester would be treated with all round whinging and derision. This is a joke anyway, Macca has played well recently and he just won us a game where we were pretty poor.
Mcshane's playing alright at the minute, But If Hobbs gets back fit and manages the same form as last season then Macca wont get a look in unless Bruce JNR makes way, But then again I feel more confident with Bruce jnr than Mcshane at times. Unfortunately when Macca gets the ball I get the same feeling I get when Aaron Mclean gets the ball In the opponents area....
Think we need a cock up watch thread as those with blinkers can only see Alex Bruce & Macca. Chester has probabaly made just as many if not more this season. Comments to be made every Saturday evening and the cock up award made on a Sunday. Hopefully there will not be that many from now to end of season.
Mcshane cocks up more than others ... I am not happy having him play on the basis of one "ok" performance and then have him take a win away from us through his cock up which will definitely happen, it's only a matter of time.
Interesting he's praising Bruce for giving him a chance and bashing Pearson and Barmby a bit because they didn't. Given that he was farmed out to us on loan by Bruce and sold to us by Bruce who never bothered with him at Sunderland. Albeit in the prem not the championship which is arguably McShane's level.
That really isn't true though. Bruce has hardly made any mistakes since Blackburn where he gave them the winner, but no one's really saying he has are they? Chester has been at fault for maybe two goals this season and it's just been a case of mistiming his jump at the back post and getting beaten to a header. Easy mistake to make. McShane however has made several, such as the Wolves goal, the dodgy pass against Barnsley which meant Evans had to bail him out, the Blackpool winner where he made Amos look a dick, and 3 times on Saturday where he almost gave goals away. I'm not saying everyone should hate him, and if people can be positive about a player when he doesn't do well then great, but this is a forum where people will call it as they see it. Is it wrong for people to point out those mistakes?
"I'm not Franco Baresi all of a sudden but I'm doing all right at the minute." Who has been comparing him to Baresi? If anything, his hair makes him more like Maldini...
