I always drink ale, Spoons and Micropubs are good for that...

Anywhere else, check what the clientele are drinking when you walk in, if it's mainly lagers and there's only one ale on tap, probably best avoided. Too often I've taken the chance and it's been vile, and I get tired of complaining.

Tennants Super
Kestral Super strength
Gold Label

All contenders

We used to have an old fella in one of our haunts that would have 5/6 pints of bitter and a bottle of Gold Label barley wine with each one, he'd sip the bitter then just keep topping it up with the barley wine, he'd walk out as sober as he walked in. Strange old bloke, would always acknowledge you but never got into a conversation with anyone.

Be a lot cheaper to drink at home if not talking to anyone. It's why I never drink out... Costs six times as much, and I don't want to talk to anyone. <laugh>

Been down the local this evening, my eldests 18th so we mooched down for a couple.

£6.15 a pint! I mean, what the ****? How did that happen?

Not sure it'll make me 'brew' packet beer at home, but it definitely make me think **** going down the local.

It's wrong, I love my local for keeping the cost down regardless of what they are serving.
