I'm going to bite They scored against the run of play and it was a corner. They didn't cause any serious problems in open play at any point (imo)
Yeah I was only joking having seen none of it. Sounds like a good defensive performance against a decent side.
Yeah the level difference from league 2 to league 1 isn’t massive is it. Th3 jump starts at championship then to pl is huge! Good result. Heard and saw none of it as I was gigging in thirsk at 4pm and in Chester on the night! Bit gutted to have conceded as I looked at text updates
Would we have taken 4 points out of the first two? Probably. We have no divine right to win every game we play, the sooner some realise this the better.
I think the one thing that every Sunderland fan knows is that we won't win every game Giacc. Even Monty. Definitely happy with 4 points after 2 mate. Now let's see how we do against Sheffield Wednesday on Thursday. I'd like to see Ross put his best team out. It could tell us quite a bit about where the squad is at this early stage of the season. Its televised by the way.
I'm looking forward to this one, hope he keeps changes to a minimum, a win would keep our run going and help the back four in particular to develop as a unit, the more they play together the better they should become. Further up field use the subs to spread the load.
Key thing is about trying to keep some momentum and a draw does that. How good is a draw away to Luton? No-one knows and will not know for weeks yet. When we started in the Championship we lost our first two games to teams we were told weren't that good - Fulham and Huddersfield. Keep grinding out some points and staying in touch with the top 2/6 teams (which you will do) and once the team actually gels you'll storm through the second half of the season. The only set-back I see is just injuries, which can happen to any team.
I don’t think anything can be judged after 2 games ever at any level. Has you say, momentum is good to keep. Any away draw in the league is a good draw. Win your home games and draw away ones gets you promoted!
Fully agree Marcus it was a good result, but strangely it always feels better if you come from behind and draw. Nevertheless, going there was never going to be easy, and I cant wait untill we have a few more back from injury. The two lads up front and two midfield in particular will make a hell of a difference. On the up mate
A good point, we’re still gelling and yet to get a full strength team out. Smashed one off the cross bar second half, too. Onward & upward...
Absolutely this - we are in this division because we deserve to be so can't be thinking "it's only Luton" (or insert any other third division team) 1 win 1 draw in first 2 games - normally takes us 3 months to get 4 points!!
We also played some nice football stringing passes together, the back four are looking much better, another step forward, and it was almost a leap.
Didn't you have 4 points from 2 games last season? Think you drew the first game and then won the second, it was just the 44 games that followed which were a ****storm.
