You only have to look at the players we had in our most successful seasons to see what we're lacking: Meyler, Ashbee, Barmby, ***an, Windass, Davies, Livermore, Dawson, Brown, Diame, Snodgrass, Boeteng etc.
Peter Taylor...I saw Forrester score at Darlington from a throw-in. Throw in to Forrester, he dodged out of the way, ran through to Price who put Forrester in through on goal and he tucked it away. Cracking goal.
I see some people are saying how wonderful we were under Rosenior when we finished 7th compared to our position now. We have to remember that the team we have got this season is nothing like the team we had last season. Last season we had some good performances away from home but at home we would spend ages passing the ball around between our back four and very little time getting in the opposition penalty area.
Rosenior used the centre midfield with Seri, but under Tim, it's a no go area. Allsopp to Connolly gave us a longer option as well. Rosenior, in my opinion , was too predictable and, at home, too slow, whilst Tim is far, far, far, too predictable and always too slow. Don't get me started about playing players out of position.
You don’t know that. Lots of decent teams have horrific drop-offs. In fact, there’s a pattern of clubs that finish in the play-offs and don’t get promoted or just outside the play-offs that go on to have a terrible season after in the Championship where they flirt with relegation or end up relegated. In recent years, it’s happened to Barnsley, Huddersfield, Blackburn, Boro had a shocking start last season and Coventry have had a shocking start this season.
Impossible to say definitively, but I think most would say on balance of probability we wouldn't be in the relegation places with only 1 clean sheet in 17 competitive games.
I think there's a good chance we wouldnt have been 22nd I wouldnt like to guess on how much home attendances would have reduced though
