What an absurd take, just who do you think is responsible for getting all these players in that we’ve enjoyed watching ? Edit, I may have missed the sarcasm here
It would be a typical Sunderland decision to remove a manager the fans love, the players clearly love playing for and has proved his techniques and strategies work over a season. Blows my mind even the thought of it.
Shame. They battered us all game. We didn't show up like we did at home. Were not brave enough on the ball. That said, when the team line up was out I thought it was very silly and confidence was gone. Just wasn't going to cut it at their place with a small pitch and hostile crowd.
I don't buy the "Hostile Crowd" thing. These players play in front of near 40.000 every week with very high expectations... I don't see why one single player would s hit himself about playing in front of 10,000 at Luton.. As for the team selection. Only Mowbray and his staff will ever know which players would be "fit enough and ready" to play for 90 minutes... with all our injuries this squad has gone way above any single fans expectations... proud of them all. This has been a season to remember
Totally agree, injuries did for us. We needed a patriot missile defence system to withstand their aerial bombardment... without it we were defenceless.
It has. The players did seem a bit bothered to me. Maybe it was the closeness to the pitch. We had defenders on the bench. If Anderson isn't. Ready he shouldn't have been signed in Jan with Baily Wright going the other way.
So reflecting on last night: We have a team that does not back down and that has huge potential. We really have had a cracking season, to get promoted via the playoffs and then finish in the top 6 is class. To do that playing the football we played, with.the youngest squad in the league and with the injuries weve had is unheard off. Last night was a disappointing, i was more disappointed we didnt play to our best more so than the result. I hate losing but you can accept it more if we play to our potential and get beat by the better team - last night we just didnt get going. People can talk about the lack of height or the wrong team selection but for me it was simply down to the injuries finally caught up with us. We looked leggy last night and we didnt have our usual zip on the ball, therefore, we couldnt play our game n ended up playing lutons game. Good luck to luton for the final, i actually dont mind them as a club or a team. what i would say is the future is brighter at our club. The talk of TM going would be the a huge decision for the club to make. The new manager would be under unreal pressure from the start. I would personally keep TM, he fits exactly what we are trying to build so far perfectly well. I trust speakman, i know some cant take to him but the work he has done since joining the club has been unbelievable so ill trust him to do whats right to take us up a level. Lets just reflect on some great performances over this season and get excited for what lies ahead. This team has made me so proud to be a sunderland fan, thoughout the season i had messages from mates n scouts who just rave about us, they say it must be great watching watching this side. 'Yes it is, this is my club n i love it'
Slept on this ....not going down the blame game route and haven't read the whole thread. TM and his players gave everything all season and last night was a step too far as our horrendous injury list finally caught up with us. Nobody's fault, that's just how the cards were dealt, as for Luton they're in the final by scoring from 3 corners exposing our weaknesses with a height advantage, I can't remember them actually playing through us in both games and Pattos only real saves were from goal mouth scrambles. I wish them well if they get promoted but let's see how far they get relying on dead ball situations and closing down for 90 minutes like they did last night which is impossible to maintain for a whole season, 20 points max for them if they make it with that squad. Finally to say goodbye to our loan players and wonder if we'll see any of them next season and looking forward to our recruitment team piecing together another exciting squad and Tony giving us another cracking tilt at the Championship Title. Great season all round, pity about last night but proud to be a Sunderland fan HTL.
Am assuming Mogga was always a stop gap and club have a longer term plan with a younger coach? Wonder what would have happened if we'd gone up......
Good post mate. I woke up this morning feeling disappointed rather than gutted. We had no right to be in the play offs given where we were this time last year, and it always felt like it was going to be a stretch with so many players missing. All the talk before the games was about Luton's long ball, physical play and we just couldn't stand up to it. Hey ho, it is what it is and we will go again in August,. Luton will come down on record points if they get promoted. FWIW I think Boro are the ones going up
always been the way there are longer between L1 and L2 playoffs due to ticket sales etc for the final. It’s not like either team gets any more advantage so I don’t see the problem
