It's Friday afternoon again we're in need of a dedicated thread for tomorrow's game.

Nothing yet from Masky, so I'll put this up. Once again, if Masky posts something for us, I'll merge the threads. <ok>

Our recent record v Luton is good but I have doubts for tomorrow.

Anyone one else here went away there December 1971? 2.2 draw with Clarkie getting a late equaliser.

I recall us getting a bye in the league cup because Luton had a plastic pitch which was against the rules at the time I believe.

Must have been around 1986 or 87 I reckon.

Who invented plastic pitches <doh>
Went to see City at QPR early 80’s on one and it was just terrible. Ball bouncing like on a trampoline.

Quite a daunting challenge for us tomorrow. Luton having a good season so far and playing some good stuff.
SM still feeling his way around but I hope he encourages his players to play football and not drift into old habits.
Ralls has to start, not least because he's my nominated scorer.

No tippy tappy at the back today please, mainly because McToucan, Our Man and the Admiral just can't do it to any positive effect.

The pedestrian plodding in midfield also has to stop. As clingo said, Ralls must start even if he isn't 100%. He's the only one we have capable of driving the game forward from midfield - I'd even consider playing Colwill in there who could do a similar job. The other regularly used options are slowing the transition pace allowing the oppostion so much time to regroup it's becoming a joke.

Don't want to hear from Morison after the game about how our stats are improving on the back of another defeat.

....and another thing.

We're playing far too narrow generally. We must use the width of the pitch to pull the opposition defences wide instead of allowing them to congregate in the box and blot out our front men with sheer numbers.

Giles on the left can and does do it. Ng is capable too, though I think he looks to cross from too deep rather than hitting the byeline before he does - maybe a lack of confidence taking on his fullback?

Whatever, whilst we've got 2 opposition centrebacks and a couple other defenders sitting on top of Moore all game, he'll struggle. We need to open up defences through width to give him space - either that or drop him and play a different game.

Definitely not effective, but I didn't mind the tippy tappy stuff as it got the back four at least passing to a team mate. However, it can't be a long term game plan. The next step is to start passing forward and not aimless hoofing. I think everyone needs to get into the habit of pass and move so that passing becomes positive instead of just passing for passing's sake.
I'm still hanging on to patience at the moment as our players have some serious unlearning to do. They've had a long time of being encouraged to take up bad habits but Morison as only had two months to pull them away from the dark side.
Anyway, c'mon City.

Yes - the penny has dropped for Morison regarding Vaulks & Bacuna.

Morrison for Flint not unexpected but would have kept Davies but suppose Morison thinks Collins can upset his old team mates.

Hopefully we will see City storm out of the blocks rather than be passive and patient.

You watch Collins score today. Davies a bit too lightweight to start a game at the mo, but he'll get better as he bulks up.

Far better to let Collins rough up the Luton defence and bring him on with 20 minutes to go - that's his best option right now.

Bit of a lack of pace, Giles excepted, in that team.

Also, how many goals have the 11 scored this season? 9, possibly 10? Luton's defence must be shaking in their boots.
