Well we didn't do badly at Posh then - 5000 tickets for a ground that holdsv just over 14,000 (and that doesn't include those of us who were in with the home fans)
I am sure that you know my reaction and I have no intention of getting into another prolonged arguement on admission prices but in my opinion this is utter madness. If I want to watch Lowestoft play Lewes in the Ryman League this Saturday the admission prices are £10 (presumably more if I want a seat ), £8 for concessions apart from U16's who get in for £2. £10 and £1 to watch a Premiership side play in the 4th round of the Cup? Utter madness!! Take out expenses and the FA's cut then divide the balance with Luton then take out the extra wages and win bonuses we will undoubtedly have to pay our players and you end up with peanuts. What is the point of having Cup Runs unless you make money out of it. By my calculations we have got to the quarter finals of the League Cup and possibly the 5th round of the FA Cup without making money out of it. It is extra money that could have gone into the transfer kitty. Would people have been angry and would there have been anything other than a full house if admission was £20 or £25 and £5 for concessions? No, so why not charge it and make a bit of extra money that CH will undoubtedly need in the summer.
all cup games are bonus games. if we can't beat luton at home then we may as well give up on the premier league, so we should get another game after this. the club are being generous with their ticket pricing for this game, giving something back to the fans. why moan about it? luton get half the gate receipts anyway, so surely its better to make money out of having everyone buy food etc. at £20 we'd probably sell 12k, at £10 we'll sell out, get a full house, a cracking atmosphere and plenty of youngsters and newbies through the door who might just want to come again. for **** sake, stop moaning! you're moaning for the sake of it now!!

Like everybody else I would rather pay £10 than £20 or £30 - all I was doing is pointing out that from a business point of view it is utter madness to charge less to watch a Premiership Club in the 4th round of the FA Cup than Lowestoft charge to watch a normal Rymans League match. McNally has always said that all extra income goes into the transfer kitty and Cup runs are a good way of generating extra income if the pricing is right. I am as certain as I can be that we would have got a full house at £20 a ticket and £5 concessions even if we had to let Luton have a bigger allowance so, to me, it is a business opportunity lost to boost the transfer kitty in the summer without causing the grief of the Spurs game.
1950, in these times of austerity this is the right thing for the club to do. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford a season ticket even if I could get one. If tickets for this game were £20-£25 and say £10 for kids, I wouldn't dream of trying to get one. As it is, I shall endeavor to get a ticket for myself and my 11 year old because it's affordable to me. Now I don't know how 'well off' you are, nor do I have the desire to know so, but from reading your previous posts on this thread and others, you really don't seem to have grasped just how tight money is for some people at the moment. This gesture will mean that many Dads will most probably take their youngsters to a game for the first time, these kids could well be the future fanbase of NCFC, think on ! P.S. No offence meant

No offence taken and in turn I apologise if anything I said was insensitive. I appreciate what you say about the fans of the future and that is why pre-season friendlies, early rounds of the League Cup etc are such a good thing from that point of view but the 4th round of the FA Cup against a fairly local team? In fairness how many season ticket holders won't pay £10 so how many spare spaces will there be with 4000 coming from Luton? Clubs want to have Cup runs to generate extra income and I just don't think that City are taking advantage of that business opportunity. To be fair - don't you think it utter madness to charge the same to watch a Premiership side in the 4th round of the FA Cup as they charge to watch an ordinary league match at Lowestoft or Dereham?
I think it's a brilliant gesture to get some new fans into the stadium. I'm sure there's some regular fans out there now that got their first flavour of going to see Norwich back in the 80's / 90's when the club started dishing out tickets to schools and youth groups to flesh out some below average crowds. Anyone remember the annoying high-pitched "Norwich clap clap clap" chants that came out of the old south stand?... still they were having fun and no doubt a few kept on attending. The other factor to consider is that McNally's eye is probably squarely on next season's Sky money allocation which will make a couple of cup game gate receipts look like loose change.
£10 is a great gesture but also astute business. finding a way to argue against this can only be deemed as moaning as far as i'm concerned. the club will make far more money this way so i really don't understand the logic on gate receipts - if anything its luton who should be moaning as they get half! i do not believe we would have a full house at £20 against luton. how much was it for the scunthorpe and doncaster games and what were the attendances...? oh, and luton are not local - just cos they pick up anglia tv does not make them in the east! people in luton see watford as a rival - they barely batter an eyelid at norwich.
I spoke to some other season ticket holders last night and they have decided not to go to this game, to give people who wouldn't normally get a chance to see the Canaries play go to the game. Should be a 'sell out' and a cracking atmosphere!!
DM has just been interviewed on Radio Norfolk and basically said that the club has listened and learned from the fans. He admitted that their previous pricing policy for cup ties was probably wrong and felt that charging £10 and £1 would fill the stadium, generate a better atmosphere and overall gate receipts
Mankini City have returned at least 1000 of their allocation for their game at the Emirates. Arsenal were charging them £62 for the ticket. FFS What is going on? It has to stop!
For our games, the A+ ones the casual tickets are something like £50-60 depending on where you sit, so we would have charged them north of 50 quid for the boxing day game.
