I thought he started the season well for us, being so much better than Orr, and looked especially good going forward. At that stage, to me, he seemed to be one of our better buys. Later, he seemed to go off the boil a little bit perhaps due to his injury. Whilst I think they are a little harsh, I can see some substance in the negatives highlighted on this thread. However, I'm not sure I'm ready to write him off just yet.
How can you go off the boil when you don't actually get picked? Excellent for us in 2011. Never got a sniff thereafter.
He played 26 games, thats 2/3 of a season. He was picked until he was found out and then hardly picked again, just like SWP
As I said, after a strong start, I thought he went off the boil , just a little, whilst he was still being picked. I think Hughes may have felt the same because he stopped picking him.
Its a big reason why I have faith in Hughes but I didnt in Warnock. Hughes can see where things are going wrong (Kenny excepted although he may have had a clause where he has to play) where Warnock just kept on plugging along hoping things would change. Thats fine in the NPC but not in the PL.
I think you are being a bit harsh on him personally I thought he did very well, he got injured busting a gut trying to get forward when we were down to 10 men and a couple of the poor performances were also when we were down to 10 men. Therefore these are questionable and it is difficult to compare when there is such an imbalance. I think he would be a fine squad player and some.
Looked good going forward in some games, but caught out of position a lot and maybe could be a bit faster. Some games though he seemed to hang back more, he may be guilty of doing the job he's he told. Should get a decent club, looks like a proper pro must who wants/needs regular games, good luck to him. Funny Head - Kinda looks like it pulses when his jaw starts going. Bit like a Alien.
He had some decent games when he came in but we conceded far too many goals down that side and his defensive positioning isn't going to be improved at 30 or whatever he is.
He would be a good squad player, but costly in wages and someone who we could get money for from someone else. No let him go for a good wack
Shouldn't Purple Face have taught him to defend if it was that easy? If he was ours then well worth it but I can't see the point of bringing in a player on loan who we need to develop. Too much effort for too little reward.
I never said it was easy and it takes years but at least it cant be done. Its a good move bringing someone who can play both sides, isnt on massive wages and will not take up a squad place. A win win over young who is slow, old, cant defend and takes up a squad place.
I like Young...think of him as a good player... I aslo liked Rufus Brevvett but what do i know.....played in the prem long before us!!!
Rufus reminded me of myself when I played so I also liked him. Sadly the game is pretty much non contact now and we will never see his like again.
