It will be interesting to see, personally I'd say his increased adventure has been just down to him growing as a player and being let off the leash a touch. I think if you go game by game since his first then you'd see him go forwards more and more progressively, in his first few games either by instruction or his own intuition he rarely left his own half and was clearly very keen on just focusing on doing his defensive job. As he has gotten more games under his belt again either because Nigel knew he could trust him or because he got a little more confident he has started to make more attacking raids. Personally I'd hope he is just as if not more attacking with Adam in the side as the two would form a deadly combination, à la Puncheon and Clyne - those combinations on both wings would give teams serious headaches.

Watching Shaw in the Chelsea game yesterday, he reminded me at times of Gareth Bale.

First time I've seen that comparison! :p

I did find it very amusing when I read an article about our academy and youngsters the other day, in the same paragraph they completely seriously referred to Shaw as 'the new Gareth Bale' and Matt Targett as 'the new Luke Shaw'. Does that mean Targett is the new new Gareth Bale?

I can understand the comparison between Shaw and Bale. But Shaw is already proving to be an accomplished defender whereas when Bale started he relied more heavily on his pace. Bale was much more of an attacking threat when he broke though too, but both showed amazing maturity, quality and assuredness from such a young age. It's of massive credit to our academy that we produce such talent.

Haha terribly sorry, I had it as got initially but then giving it a quick scan through it just don't sound right on my tongue, changed it to gotten and then sat there looking at it for three seconds with a quizzical look and then went '**** it' and just posted it. Brain fart moment.

Bale and Shaw are nothing like each other it's just lazy journo's who always want to compare players to others.

I like many others did not see the comparrison as true, however if he can produce one or two runs like that a match then he will be compared to Bale which is not too shabby as Bale is ranked in the top 30 players in the world and probably top 3 on he left side. Chelseas right back has represented his country in all the european winning junior teams and is known for his speed, yesterday was the first time i saw how quick Shaw is.

Matt Le Tiss made a good point about Shaw last night, which was that his marauding up the pitch has increased along with the time he has spent on the pitch in each game. Don't forget that in his first few games for us he had to be subbed off in the 2nd half because he was knackered. Now he routinely plays 90 minutes, but his fitness is still improving, so he has more energy to go on runs, even relatively late in the game like last night.

Haha, don't be so sensitive fella, by jump on you do you mean me making a joke, RSS politely slightly disagreeing, Bendit politely disagreeing and BD very bluntly disagreeing? For an internet forum, that's the tamest of the tame.

I've been slaughtered on here many times but I don't give a f**k. If you on the other hand are a rather sensitive soul and only want to be loved just say totally neutral and non contoversial things.

You will have my support and affection if you say lots of really constructive things about Gully. On the other hand if you do the opposite I will have to conclude that you know naff all about football.

So find out what all the posters like and say things in agreement with them and they will love you to bits.

    Easy isn't it.

Oh and by the way Shaw is a totally different player to Bale. He can defend for a start.
