The kid got too big for his boots, scored some goals in a mid table side and a good but unspectacular Everton side and then expects not to have to fight for his place at one of the leading clubs in Europe. His still young and could have proven himself if he was prepared to bide his time. Ultimately he was pretty **** in any of the games he played for us as well. There's no agenda, if you're good enough a manager normally picks you.
So as this promising 18 year old kid that several top teams where interested in signing, how many games did he play in his first season? He was obviously expecting to come in and be part of the team, even if he wasn't a starter he obviously thought he was going to be far more involved with the team. If he felt that way, it's because Chelsea will have lead him to believe he would be playing. After being disappointed with not getting game time in his first season he wanted to play football, which is important at his age, so he went out on loan. Despite two years running of impressing on loan he has still never had his shot with Chelsea. Had he been at any of the other top European sides who where in for him I expect he would have featured far more for his parent club.
First season he didn't get enough games, granted (though he was very poor when he did get a chance). The West Brom loan worked for everyone and is common place to loan out kids. Last summer we were on the hunt for a Drogba replacement and failed to get one. He therefore had a fair shot at some regular first team action but failed to back himself and instead wanted to go out on loan. He was pretty much done for with Jose from then on. If you wont fight for your place or the shirt you'll last about 2 seconds with Jose.
Jose offered him a shot last season, but he wanted another loan spell because Jose wouldn't guarantee him X amount of games. Like i've said a million times, our strikers last season sucked, if he'd stayed, he would have gotten enough games to show whether he had what it took or not. He chose not to........
Mourinho Interview on Lukaku's sale: José Mourinho says he sold Romelu Lukaku to Everton because he did not believe the striker had the motivation to fight for a place at Chelsea. “Romelu was always clear that in his mentality and his approach he was not highly motivated to come to a competitive situation at Chelsea,” Mourinho said in the Daily Mirror. “He wanted to play for Chelsea, but clearly only as first-choice striker - and at a club of our dimension it’s very difficult to promise a player that status. That reduced immediately his desire to come to us. After that, Everton came with an important offer and because we want to be inside financial fair play rules, you have to analyse these situations.”
end of. Lukaku is immature, and not willing to compete. At Everton, he has no comp. Not sure how or why this discussion has reached 5 pages of tedious idiocy.
Do you have any proof we bought him merely to make profit and prevent top clubs getting a decent young prospect? No. There is more proof to reveal Lukaku didn't want to stay here and fight for a starting place by requesting a loan last season. By all means, we played our part in the stagnation of the lad's progress at the highest level (our chopping and changing of managers combined with a useless £50m lump up top are the reasons for that) but if you think this is all big bad Chelsea's fault then you are majorly mistaken.
Good deal for us - struck me as being a bit of a loose cannon constantly bad-mouthing us in the media; as for that useless sack of donkey manure who masquerades as a forward from time to time we're stuck with him until he's out of contract whenever that is- still could with another forward. Hope the rumour surrounding Schurle & Miranda is precisely that...a rumour - swapping a 23 yr old striker for a 29 yr old defender is nuts.
