Everton fans are divided on Lakaku and just been chatting to a Everton fan about their game tonight and he also wasn't offering much praise, as aside from his goals they don't rate his team game, mainly his poor touch and for the way Martinez plays they ideally want a striker like Peter Crouch in his prime!

Someone who can hold the ball up, neat control and link up with attacking mids.

Lakaku is clearly a talent but I'm happy with Adebayor and Soldado next year as our main strikers as Soldados link up play has been top class, just to compliment both much will depend who's manager as it's likey we will play one up front as that's how most systems work these days, although I would love to see us play a strike partnership.

If Eriksen continues to score and Adebayor retains his form for next season and Soldado continues to improve then I'm not sure Levy would sanction another big name striker, Especially when Lamelas future is still undecided.

Plus there is Chadli, the new Bale so we're covered.

But Lakaku can carry on scoring for Everton as he's part of my fantasy football team!

We've now been linked with Standard Liege's young striker Michy Batshuayi, for the third or fourth time.
Basically if you're a Belgian forward and you have a vague idea where the goal is, then we're in for you in the summer.
Expect the Benteke rumours to resurface in the next couple of weeks.

Lukaku's agent has claimed that he's been in talks with our chairman:

“Yes, I am looking for a club for Romelu and yes, I had a conversation with Daniel Levy, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Romelu will go to Tottenham.
I am talking to different clubs but it’s true that there aren’t exactly 20 clubs who can afford Romelu.”

Nice bit of advertising for his player. I wonder who he's trying to bait?

The Guardian have shown that my awesome prophetic powers are still working, linking us with both Belgians, probably just to put their own little spin on the Lukaku quotes.
What are the odds on us starting next season with three strikers from Poirotland? 1,000,000:1?

Benteke, Lakaku and Adebayor. Ardiles would sign and start all three!

Better for a Belgian player to be Poirot than Salamander...

Benteke has been ruled out of the world cup. Bad news for Belgium but in a selfish way good news for Villa as he's likely to remain with Villa for awhile yet due to his constant injury problems and no club will match his hefty price tag.

Of course I know of him. The gypsy guitarist, could do more with three fingers than most could do all of them..."live at the Hot Club de Paris" I think is the album that I still have somewhere at my mothers's place..

I would've liked to have seen the club splash big on Benteke in the summer, the £20m-£25m wasn't a major issue in my opinion as I thought he was worth it and would repay the fee easily with goals.

Now, after a topsy-turvy season where his form has been indifferent, coupled with a number of injuries, I don't think I'd pay above £10m at the moment and I'm glad the club didn't take the risk on him.

AVB would have ruined him anyway, although even with his injuries he would have scored more then Soldado!

I actually prefer Benteke to Lakaku now I have seen more of each player, Benteke has more to his game. He could run down his contract at Villa as Villa won't want to sell him on the cheap just because of his injury problems and even if he misses the start of the next year he will likely come back and help Villa second half of the season.

Was about to say the same. He's also a great athelete which goes a long way in the PL.

Personally I'd rather we went for someone else. I've seen him play against the likes of Arsenal, where you dominated possession, and he's not offered anything. Give him through balls to run onto in a fast end to end game and he'll score you buckets but so would Bent when we bought him. I thought we were looking for a bit more finesse and skill in our team so for the kind of money being talked about I'd stay well clear.

I think he'd suit Chelsea more anyway so I'm surprised Mourinho doesn't want him, the only reason I can think for it is that he's planning on using Schurrle as a striker next season.

If Ade retains his form, he's shown this year more than ever that he really is an excellent player. But he never has retained his form in the past, plus he's reaching that age when footballers, especially strikers, spend at least half the year injured. Soldado really might work out, and then again he really might not. Lukaku may not quite be ideal for us, but I think he'd be a very solid choice: young, can bully defenders and seems unlikely to go completely off the boil. It's always valuable to have someone like him or Ade to provide a big distraction for the CB, if nothing else. I'd take him in an instant, especially considering it would mean Chelsea wouldn't get him. Also, he's not a ****e footballer. He's not Messi either, but the last game I watched him closely and thought his first touch and passing were surprisingly good. IMO.
