I agree PNP. I like the idea of this.

However, when we signed modric, it was an expensive buy, for someone that no one knew anything about. - and it's been a good buy, thank goodness.

Now that we're going to potentially be on the receiving end of a 30-40mill deal, we have to buy someone that everyone's heard of, at least. even if it's someone who's been good abroad and got to prove themselves in the prem, or might be out of form, or might be "known" to have potential... it's just got to be someone that football fans know.

top quality players generally come with a premium. to replace Luka properly, it's very very likely to cost us a decent chunk of that cash, even if we go down the route I mentioned above.

we've built so much in recent years, the club must make some sort of statement with his replacement.

otherwise, again, we will look like the club who just sells it's best players. (although we're getting better at covering it up)

I knew what a quality player Modric was when we signed him. I was very excited when it happened. I'm not exactly a football connoisseur either. He was an established international with Croatia at the time.
For me, the signing of Modders was a bit like what the signing of Marin would have been (although Marin was cheaper)

also, how did it brake is leg and not his foot?

Exactly. These questions make me not want him. Remember Jose Antonio Reyes? He was so unbelievably stupid that the Guardian (i think) did an article on him and about how stupid he was. He had Sevilla bedspreads at the age of 19 and he had to be accompanied to England by an entourage of his family because they were seriously worried that he'd do something like jump in the Thames and accidentally kill himself. As a teenager he had to have extra language lessons.....IN SPANISH!
This Banega sounds similar.

Apparently he got his leg trapped between the kerb and the car, rather than something utterly ludicrous. The fact he was already out with a knee injury, though, implies he'll be rusty for a fair chunk of the season - a loan in view of a permanent signing is the only thing we should offer.

I don't know how I feel about this. I was very impressed with Carroll, and while I agree he may not be ready to step into CM, I wonder if Spurs shouldn't find out whether that's the case or not. Playing players you've developed is the best of all solutions. The cliche from American sport is "the best player available," and if Spurs didn't need a good replacement for Ade I'd be in favor of that. As it stands, I think that Ade's replacement (assuming he won't resign) is even more important than Modric's replacement.

It will be a shame if Modic leaves I think he is a class player if your club can get 30+m for him I think that's good value thats more then we got for Fab.Anyway all the best for the up and coming season just don't finish above us.
