Not quite the same thing, and I'm not sure I would call him that. I think I would call him the same as I said about Suarez, bloody stupid, or bloody ignorant. I also said that about Di Canio's fascist saluting when it came up. But we have all been bloody stupid on occasion, it isn't the same as being all those other things. It is quite odd that the move to political correctness has made people less tolerant or forgiving (less Christian you might say), in my mind not better at all.
Was just joking mate...I think what suarez did was racist but ike you said it was born of ignorance...I think Di Canio was different as he saw himself as a fascist... I think that if some had those views but says they no longer do I would give them the benefit of the doubt...like you said ... you can't change the past but you can change what you are ... I think Di Canio made a bad mistake by not publically saying he no longer sees himself as a fascist...it's made lots of us believe he still has those odious views
Well, we discussed Di Canio in another thread, but basically modern fascists are not Nazis, in the same way that modern communists are not Stalinists. In Italy fascist isn't the bad word it is in England. They would have probably called Margaret Thatcher a fascist with no slur intended.
Completely disagree re fascism but like you said ... it's been discussed else where and I don't want to derail this thread
