Lovren gives us the leadership we need at the back....

  1. I prefer the diamond but part of me thinks a 4231 would be the wiser move against Real. Its not often I think we should worry about what the opposition are going to do but this is one of the exceptions.

4231 has failed miserably in every game we've used it. We need to go back to the basics and get the best out of the players we have.

I think you're confusing rotation with enforced changes due to injury.

As far as I can only the change at the weekend of Enrique for Moreno wasnt down to the player being injured. The other changes have been required.

  4. Its not failed in every game we've used it, it was very good under Rafa with Alonso and Mascherano <whistle>

I realise you mean under Brod though. It hasn't worked because Gerrard's always been a part of it. Problem is, we don't know who to play as the holding player in the diamond, how are we going to find two of them? <laugh>

  5. Is Moreno injured then?

I don't know, but I was shocked when I saw that Enrique and Johnson <yikes> were starting

Now that we have beaten QPR, (still don't know how we managed it!), I hope that Johnson and Enrique will be dropped for Moreno and Mankiller. Unfortunately I suspect Johnson will play due to the rumoured "has to be picked if fit clause" that he has in his contract.

I don't think there is such a clause and no club is stupid enough to agree to it .. even LFC lol!

I think Rodgers is actually a fan of Johnson - after all, he thinks Lovren and Srktel are good defenders.

Allen and Can might make a decent 2, but next year, not next game

  10. I think I'd prefer Allen and Hendo for their legs, maybe get Lallana and Sterling in the mix too. Plenty of energy and work rate to keep their midfield working. Maybe sit a bit deeper than usual too minimise the gap between defence and midfield to limit the space C.Ronaldo and co work in.

Any deeper than at QPR and our CB's would be behind the goal!

In essence though, I agree...pack midfield and pray <ok>

  12. I did say the midfield a little deeper, not the defence. I also said about limiting the gap between the two. In no way shape or form should we 'park the bus', that would be suicide!

    <laugh> or damage limitation!!

I am actually starting think that a fulse 9 would be good here. I'd use Borini or Sterling in that role. 3-7-0 or a 4-6-0

Ballo is ****e and a hinderence so what choice do we have!

    Fair point <laugh>

Plus he has the dubious honour of creating 'an shambles'

  17. Playing Mario in this game could be good though. A motivated Balotelli is a decent weapon to have and he is very good at getting the ball under control and holding it up. Since we will be under pressure, he will make for a good outlet and bide time for Sterling to bomb forward in support too. If he can't get motivated to play against the reigning European champions then there is something wrong.

If they were lazy, then they wouldn't want to play every game (that they're fit), would they?
