Man u was 16 000 more than previous game. SAFC the following season when they went up also saw a 16000 increase on previous game.
Not sure how much Man U losing and SAFC winning affected the mood of the fans, but MUFC was nailed on as a day of madness as it was for all their away games that year.
I know there were Hull Reds but I reckon they have far more fans here now than back then.

Fulham game 9,045, Man .Utd game 23,287. Maths wasn't my strong point but subtracting the Fulham crowd from the Man .Utd one doesn't come to 16,000.

Not according to the Bible by Chris Elton. It was 9,045 against Fulham.FACT. However the week before the Fulham game we were beaten 5-0 away at Notts County, where spookily, the crowd was 7571. FACT.
I think you referred to the same book and misread it. FACT.

We played Sunderland in the autumn of 1974. That was also when we played Man Utd. I said Sunderland won the cup the year before (1973). There's nothing for you to get pedantic about.

The game that was originally referred to where Sunderland brought 16,000 was in 1975. I said, if you read it, not long after the Man Utd game Sunderland brought 16,000. The Sunderland game in 1974 was before we played Man Utd, there obviously a different game to the one referred to. No need to get upset because you got at cross purposes,
