George Caulkin in The Times quoted Martinez as saying that Newcastle were playing football of a European standard...

Now don't get me wrong, I thought Wigan defended well and played a decent counter attacking game.

But at the match I went to, they only had 1 decent shot on target in 90 mins.

The entire 2nd half Newcastle dominated possession in their half of the pitch. The breakthrough goal was deserved.

To be fair OT, that only means we have to match the footballing abilities of such juggernauts as Stoke, Birmingham (Forgive me Hughton) and the 2 rivals from your old stomping ground...

Martinez: It will only be a matter of time before Newcastle are in the top 6 (permanently). Potentially, they are as good as anybody in European football

Louise Taylor epitomises the steriotypical bitter mackem. She is not afraid to resort to huge exageration and even down right lies when writing her bileous tripe. It seems to stem from a deep-rooted envy and inferiority complex.

What amazes me is that she is paid to write such odiuos drivel.

She could in fairness have said that Newcastle appeared complacent and below par in the first half, and could have fallen behind except for a brilliant stop by Krul. She could also have fairly said that Wigan defended bravely throught the second half and came near to frustrating us. To say they dominated the second half, though, just isn't true.
