I don't need to prove it. That's Pascal's Wager. Even intractable proof that God doesn't exist would get Christians saying that it was merely a test of faith put there by God to make sure we were still paying attention to him. Its the type of slippery language and semantics based **** that preachers of all religions have been using since time immemorial to confuse and confound the rational.
That **** just likes arguing for the sake of it. We're friends now though. He's still an annoying ****, just a slightly less annoying ****. I like him. I'm gonnae use extra virgin olive oil when I cook his buttocks and kidneys. He deserves somthing classy.
A nice rationalist thread this.To the zionist in the tent I give you Oscar Wilde "The worst vice of the fanatic is his sincerity. For the children of the forest its Bart Simpson "Dear God,we paid for all this stuff ourselves so thanks for nothing" and for rationalists the world over I give you the first atheist in space Yuri Gagarin "I dont see any god up here"
Exactly. I prefer just to get pissed, shoot Muslims, shag durty burds, get pissed, shoot Muslims, shag durty burds......infinitum.....
I believe it's 72 virgins,(not 21),if Muslims die in a Holy War or Jihad ? Now,on the face of it,that sounds a pretty good deal to me ? Die in combat n you have 72 nubile, young virgins at your beck n call. What's not to like ? However, what if they are 60 yr old nuns ?
First of all, now that western society has mostly brought itself around to some sort of secular thinking how dare we go and lecture those who are barely 30 years behind us? It's only been in the last 2 decades that we have seen Sunday shopping in the UK. Three years ago, yes three years!, in Northern Ireland, part of the United Kingdom, we had Ian Paisley and Co stage a protest outside Down Royal racecourse because a horse racing meeting was taking place on a Sunday - the former Prime Minister of a province of the United Kingdom believes that gambling on a Sunday is immoral and against the bible. We have the former Prime Minister proper of the United Kingdom, Tony Blair, on some sort of catholicism crusade now, finding his god and preaching for a **** load of money to the highest bidder. Yet here you all are laughing and jibbing at other cultures for indulging in a deity when as a society we have barely stopped following our own.
Islam is, to a certain extent, a rip off of Judaism (hence the dietary laws) However Mohammed was pissed that the Jews rejected him and so he became an anti-Semite while still claiming to be a prophet (as if the Jewish God would have an anti-Semitic messenger). Islam also claims that Ishmael was the one offered by Abraham as a sacrifice instead of Isaac and therefore Muslims are the chosen people. This is a reason why the Arab/Muslim side prefer an all or nothing solution to the Israel/Arab issue
Mick It has been hundreds of years since people were persecuted by Western countries due to religious beliefs yet this still happens in Muslim countries, even to Muslims (such as women who are raped) Yes you get the nutjobs like Paisley, Adams and McGuinness but it is not government policy in Western Europe and America but it is in countries like Iran, Syria and Saudi Arabia In any event you have protests on the one hand and stonings/whippings/beheadings on the other. The two are not equivalent.
and Christianity is not a rip off of Judaism? The three great monotheisms all derive from early Judaism. If you want my genuine point of view, anyone who is religious has absolutely no right to look down their nose at any other religion.
The modern United States is less secular than Turkey, not one President of the United States has ever denied a belief in God because it would be political suicide - despite the fact that Muslim majority nations such as Turkey have had secular politicians for generations.
Christianity is the idea that Jesus was the Messiah figure mentioned in the Jewish writings (the ideas attributed to Jesus were more of the do to others as you'd have them do to you variety and not the letter of the law variety, which partly caused the rejection by Jews) As for the USA/Turkey, the current Turkish leader is Muslim and leads a Muslim political party (hence the drift away from its traditional alliance with Israel), while Obama is secular and the Democratic party is seen as less religious than the Republican party (so that the latter always gets the votes of the Bible Belt states)
