Well we've offered Nyatanga another year's contract so as it's on offer, he is perfectly entitled to sign it. And as you say we still then have the four centre backs from last season who were one of the major reasons why we leaked goals so easily, plus new signings Flint and Williams. It hardly, to me, seems like "reducing the wages bill" so will we have to go short on cover for some other positions? Doesn't make very good sense to me.
As it happens it seems like Tango is talking to other clubs about a move and to be honest I would rather hope that Fontaine and Wilson get offers elsewhere that would help us get another youngster or two in, but we need a few experienced heads as well as youngsters especially those who are City through and through. The club is looking to have balance so I would guess that Sean and his team are aware of which players are attracting interest from other teams even if there are no firm bids as yet so will be looking to make sure we are not caught short in any department.
Got to say I agree with Cidered Abroad, we all go on about a bad set within the previous squad and in another breath how Carey will help the new comers, as much as I like him he didn't do anything to stop the mentality already in the club. What's to say he isn't the one that instigate's the changing room revolt? We don't know but I was hopeing for a good clear out. I know some will try and jump down my throat on these comments but just my opinion, as I said I like him, just a bit concerened that the stinking attitude of some wasn't prevented before so I'm concerened it will start with the new signings.
Doesn't make good BUSINESS sense to me. although I have to say if there is a player who deserves it from this particular squad it is Louis..
I think there is a difference between trying to influence experienced players like Kilkenny and Fontaine and younger players like Wynter and Williams and the lads at the acadamy mainly because the younger players will give somewhat more respect to Carey as the senior player and that he can still play at a good standard at his age younger players will realise that if they look after themselves they might just have a longer playing life. AS a charge nurse on a ward it was easier to influence Student Nurses whose ideas were not already fixed than Staff Nurses, who should still have been ready to learn, It's just a fact of life some people once they have made a bit of an impact seem to coast through life living on that one bit of glory.
Yep. Also think.if there is to be a way as the head coach puts it you have to individuals who can walk it as it were. Carey, Tinnion were players who can and could pass it. Louis Carey is no llimited umbering ox type.
Good point, I seem to recall he was a major part of getting Millen removed, or at least he was reported as being. Always a problem when a player thinks he is bigger than the club. For me he should have joined the back room staff not the playing staff.
Bull fella Carey backed Millen in public in front of fans. He also did very similar with Johnson at a hotel were a big group of fans stayed before a match at Hartlepool. He gives little away in public except being being approachable, modest, professional and a decent bloke. There's a point of why he may also be still at City.
