The Lost Trawlermen’s Day Service is held annually to commemorate the tragic loss of life to the Hull Fishing Industry. The open air Service is held on the St. Andrew’s Quay Retail Park (the old fish dock), and takes place during the months of either December, January or February, the time of year during which the greatest loss of life occurred. The service is supported by the Hull City Council who in recent years have provided a marquee as protection against the seasonal bad weather. The event has in the past been attended by up to 700 people. The Service usually lasts approximately one hour with readings, hymns, wreath laying and the casting of single flowers into the River Humber. 25th January – 12 Noon. please log in to view this image http://www.hullfishingheritage.org.uk/lost-trawlermens-day/
