The best bet of the weekend is QPR to beat Sunderland. We don’t have a centre half available. We’ll either need to put the full backs in there and have midfielders covering their role or drag some lads out of the academy for a game. Bookies not picked up on it yet and still have us favourites. Oh and we’ve lost 6 in a row and have a youth development coach as our manager.
Laid a ton on the first to win £50, went tits up on the next 3, didnt bother with the Captain Guinness race, the last one had £10 win @4's on track. So came back £60 up But actually broke even, 8 Guinness at £7.50 a pint
That’s a very good day then Was the atmosphere good and did it sell out? A lot of talk all last week that they were well short on the numbers that usually rock up there. I only had a bet in 3 races. Black Bamboo come in. Then I backed Unexpected Party which won 12/1. Teeshan let me down for the clean sweep. I backed one at Huntingdon which won at 4/1. Big profitable day for me. Tomorrow is good for betting but it’s also a minefield. I fancy Home By The Lee in the Stayers, but that’s all I’ve picked out so far. I’ll have a decent bet tomorrow.
We probably should be confident and with the other fixtures it’s a big chance for us to pull away a bit but I’m not backing QPR to win away up north. Maybe a couple of small bet builders.
Decent atmosphere, much better that the last couple of years. Certainly felt a little quieter than previous years but still plenty there.
Today's selection disasters: 1:30 Ginny's Destiny - 9/2 2:10 Gaoth Chuil - 8 2:50 Banbridge - 4 3:30 Crambo - 5 4:10 Saint Felicien - 8 4:50 Dysart Enos - 5 5:30 Where It All Began - 11
All the Spurs fans piling into Killer Kane today. Guaranteed to jump the easy fences and fall at the last.
Let’s see if Dan can keep a straight face when he talks about how he ‘didn’t see the win coming after the problems it has had lately’
Ginny's beaten on the run-in ... but **** me, just nice to have something still in the race as they come into the straight!
Probably should have done the forecast ... the second horse beat Grey Dawning in their last race - 3lb weight differential then ... handicapper got it pretty much bang on...
In any race with 'Handicap' in the title, the idea is that all the horses have been allocated weights based on past performance that should mean they all pass the winning post together ... (so the best horse gets top weight in a race) obviously it doesn't work out that way! - but that's the idea ... so after their last race the handicapper altered the weights for Grey Dawning and Ginny's Destiny by 3lbs in order to make them pass the post together (theoretically) ...
