I'm hoping he is infectious enough to convince the players to find some more aggression, and dare I say it, the 'Return of the Press'.
A shame to hear that the performance was awful, but the amount of times I’ve seen us drop stinkers in the early rounds of the cups against lower league opposition is just too much. Would’ve loved to see some of the fringe and younger players put in big performances, so that’s the main disappointment for me along side no minutes for our thriving academy lads. Amazing results in the other games for a cup run, though. Charlton Away please.
I wonder if he started with a back 3 last night because of lack of fit fullback options, and not wanting to risk an injury to Peraud ? Shouldn`t really be playing 3 at the back at home against a L1 side. Played much better after HT with a back 4.
I assumed the reason was the lack of fit full backs and we really can't afford an injury to Perraud at the moment. The world cup break is perfect for us from that point of view too! Hopefully they'll all be back! Maybe even Tino.
We had Rinners and Routers. Now it's Jinners and Jouters along with the undecided. LTL's Sportato blog best sums up my view on the new manager.
Hasn’t this been the problem for all of Ralph’s term. We try to off load the deadwood and fail, but then bring in more deadwood. Quality players aren’t going to come to Saints at the moment or at all. We occasionally bring in a prospect, who quickly becomes a non achiever, overwhelmed by the atmosphere of defeatism around. I know I do as a fan. The only positive I got from last night was that Liverpool also struggled to beat L1 opposition.
