Saw the last 30 mins - Murphy wasted an easy 1 v 1 ! Soooooo much hoofing painful but would have taken a win any old how.

Anyway as to other results - Boro LOSE, Watford and Wolves draw, Derby collapse haha so bizarrely not a lot of damage done ( how lucky are we )

10 to play, situation as you were, we have to take that............

Probably just about right result. Thought Town played fairly well and maybe could have sneaked a winner, but certainly looked a lot better then recent games and results again apart from the Yeller-greens went for us late.

<steam> My lasting feelings of the match are frustration.

How the hell did we not win that?
Tabb does get involved but he played some worthless balls forward today and his set pieces were crap again.
I thought Chaplow added some drive and Parr was good at LM.

I tell you one thing that's been pissing me off lately and that's the foul given for a high boot when the other player involved has his ****ing face bent down to knee height. I see them given too often, all you have to do is stoop down and you get the call, ridiculous.

Overall though it was a better performance. We showed at times that when we get the ball down that we actually play some decent stuff but the aimless punt forwards when under no pressure costs us possession time after time. The referee was a complete joke and got a lot of calls wrong in my opinion.

I feel as though we should have been two or three goals up before they scored their first.

And please Mick Mills, stop calling Parr a LB. He's a converted attacker who got pushed back and is now playing more advanced again.

I missed the first twenty minutes. but after the Bees scored I did think we were the better team by a shade. Tabb tries hard, but not great in midfield. Parr is a solid player and Mings does possess tremendous pace if still a bit raw defensively. Sears is a very good addition and I hope he might be the difference to get us at least in to the play-offs. How ridiculous is the top of the Championship I am recalculating after every series of games what the magic figure is to reach the automatic promotion and play-off spots and am bamboozled:emoticon-0112-wonde at this stage with the way results go. Just look at Derby today as an example.

Well Spanish understand your viewpoint and frustration, but still right there despite not playing well recently.

A balanced game, with many opportunities, which I think we edged. Had Daryl Murphy taken those two golden opportunities in the second half, then the result would likely have looked a lot better. A point isn't too bad considering we're up against a side very much on the ascendency. One point off play offs, at this stage, is impressive, but it means that our trip to Middlesbrough takes on added significance. While a loss would not mathematically end our season (far from it), I think it would have a serious effect on a squad that simply looks short of confidence. Put simply, I don't think we will beat Boro away, and maybe it would be unrealistic for our lads to do so, but it's evidently going to be a crucial match of the season.

Back to Murphy, and I know the odd shocking miss happens, but the truth is, Murphy has looked a very different player over the past month compared to his free-scoring form of 2014. Take the last two games, a missed penalty and a miss from three yards out has left us a potential three points short if he had taken those two very presentable chances. The game against Brentford offered an ironic twist on the usual criticism that we fail to make chances but are usually very efficient in front of goal. Instead, we produced many opportunities but failed to find that end product. Christophe Berra and Teddy Bishop were also guilty of squandering brilliant opportunities from close range.

So what did McCarthy do wrong? For that is going to be what his detractors immediately focus on. Well, Spanish's vocal criticisms of Jay Tabb seemed particularly on the money today. His wasteful pass on the brink of half time was another example of a finishing deficiency when the goal beckoned. He again looked uncomfortable out wide and regularly came inside, unbalancing the formation at worst, packing our central midfield at best. My main issue was the substitution of Freddie Sears, midway through the second half. Inventive and pacy, Sears has looked the more dangerous of our strikers over the past few weeks, and his frequent sacrificial lamb when he deserves longer on the pitch.

What did McCarthy do right? Dropping Bart and putting in Gerkin was a good move. Gerkin's shot-stopping abilities really came into focus and he looked comfortable in between the sticks. Tommy Smith had a decent game today, temporarily validating McCarthy's persistent faith. Yes, he had a poor defensive header that teed up one of the Brentford midfielders to have a shot on the edge of the area, but he defended well, coped better aerially than Berra, and executed a fine last minute sliding tackle which potentially secured the point. Chaplow, a player I doubted coming into the club, built on his decent display against Norwich, to turn in another encouraging performance today. Parr and Mings also linked up well on the left flank, although it resulted in a lot of our attacks going down that flank, which eventually became rather predictable.

I'll take the point, and a generally improved performance. Play offs should be the aim, and we're far from out of this race, but it just means we have to keep getting points on the board in our upcoming away games. It's going to be a challenge but I'll keep supporting this side.

He sure did, I'd made my comment after I'd seen the line-up but before I'd seen the shape.
