Allardyce was a good manager though and Coyle has improved their football. He's only been there for one full season, but he did a good job at Burnley before that. Far from a proven, top-class manager, but he's doing well so far.
I do think Allardyce is a good manager but I just don't get why Coyle is so highly rated and he isn't. Although their football is marginally better than when Megson was in charge they still hoof it an awful lot. I wouldn't describe it as attractive by any stretch of the imagination.
I would agree. He has done fairly well, so far. However, whether he is capable of the step-up to manage a top team; I'm not so sure.
Why would the FA come in for Harry with a major court case hanging over his head, which he could do time for?
I'd say Allardyce was far more overrated - his football is awful, his reputation isn't matched by his stints at Newcastle and Blackburn, he's a gobshite of the highest order (and a lackey of Bacon Face), and at Bolton he employed people to analyse the ref for 90 minutes so he could deflect the blame for his team losing away from the team he put out and the tactics they employed. As for Coyle, what I'd count against him was Bolton's final league position, and it has to be said they don't live up to their billing as tough opponents judging by how they roll over far too easily to the top teams.
