Downing has not scored or assisted in the Premier League, Adam Johnson can be as lazy as he wants but he offers far more than that. As does Daniel Sturridge who is a class act. I don't agree with the Rio bashing far better player than Terry his performances against Man City was oustanding was let down by one of the so called better cb's than him in Smalling. He has played 30 out of 38 in the league hardly crocked is it? If we was willing to take Ledley King last time out i am pretty sure he would be a better bet than him. Not many choices i disagree with but Carrick/Scholes and Johnson/Sturridge in for Barry and Downing. Wish that Scholes would come out of retirement, still one of the best around.

I agree about Scholes and Johnson. I've seen Downing at least a dozen times on the box this season and he has been appaling, rather like that Henderson. No surprise Kenny got the boot as they look like horrible signings. Just hope Downing can prove us all wrong if he plays and to be honest will not be hard for him to improve on his efforts this season.

Saw a report saying Carrick had contacted them to say he didn't want to be included if he was going to be a bit part player so they left him out.

Has he actually named Downing as a right winger though? Just looking at the defence Johnson and Jones are the two right backs and are the first ones named, with Cole and Baines the left backs the last two named. In midfield Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Downing are the first ones named, then all the central midfielders, then Young and Milner.

I bloody hope not, he's useless enough in his preferred position <laugh>
    Interesting point though.

    Agreed.

Oh **** off. That's 4 or 5 posts on one thread now about how **** we are. You're obsessed with telling us how **** England and English football is and how every other country is so much better. Yes people go on about getting knocked out of 3 tournaments in a row to refereeing debacles, because it happened! The whole thread is about good players being left out such as Johnson and Sturridge, so that's a totally stupid question anyway.

    This is a great post.
