I like football in general, to be honest if I just watched us I would have given up on the game by now!
Not me either, although I'll watch it but for the tournament itself. Obviously one team has to win and I'd prefer it to be England but I dont get caught up in the jingoistic fervour and dont care one jot when they lose. I also absolutely HATE the excuses - players injured / banned (every team has that), dodgy reffing (we only remember those that go against us and conveniently forget the ones in our favour) and as for "dirty cheating dagos", nuff said. We lose because we're not good enough, get over it.
Roy has nothing to lose by leaving a lot of players behind, it hould have happened after the last WC that Terry, Lampard & Gerrard were out, RH should just go for it & start experimenting now. We will fail with or without Terry so why waste time trying to do anything. This is the time to go for it.
100% agree. Hoof out of defence and a bit of height in attack, and he's out of position and cost goals too often. Confuses me though, because I don't for a minute believe I know more than a succesion of England managers or Alex Ferguson!
I know what you mean but I honestly think he was always helped by his centre back partner. Put it this way, Sol Campbell was revered at International football, was rated by opposition coaches and made it into 'teams of the tournament'. I dont remember seeing Rio in there.
This is what Roy has chosen for the Euros. Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (Man City), Rob Green (West Ham), John Ruddy (Norwich) Defenders: Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Phil Jones (Man United), John Terry (Chelsea), Joleon Lescott (Man City), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Leighton Baines (Everton) Midfielders: Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Stewart Downing (Liverpool), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Gareth Barry (Man City), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Scott Parker (Tottenham), Ashley Young (Man United), James Milner (Man City) Forwards: Wayne Rooney (Man United), Danny Welbeck (Man United), Andy Carroll (Liverpool), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham) Jagielka, Sturridge, Henderson, Adam Johnson and a goalie from Birmingham the 5 stand by players. Would have had Micah Richards ahead of Glen Johnson and Sturridge for Defoe, other than that not far off what was expected.
Same here and the body was in the middle of the road (M62) as I passed it, well what was left as it had been hit by a lorry as well.
I didn't realise this was the actual squad for the Euros till a few minutes ago. Don't agree with Milner/Downing selections but apart from that i think Roy has picked the best squad that he could have done. Anybody calling for Hodgson out at the moment is a complete cretin
If you search twitter for #hodgsonout it's mainly people taking the piss rather than actually calling for his head. Including Balotelli tweeting 'no joey barton in the England squad #hodgsonout' Good old Mario
Got to love Mario and his antics, great lad, if he sorts himself out could be a world-beater on the pitch too, already a great player.
Is there anyone of worth not included in that squad? I cant think of anyone who deserves to be in who isnt, we just dont have many good players.
There's no particular big names or some ridiculous omission, but I'd have contemplated Sturridge ahead of Welbeck, and I would definitely have had either Adam Johnson or Aaron Lennon ahead of Stewart Downing. Oh and Richards ahead of Glen Johnson, although I have a feeling he may be injured.
I'm not on twitter, but apparently Robbie Fowler has tweeted his disappointment at not being selected, although he's vowed to keep plugging away for the World Cup campaign Gerrard has been confirmed as captain by the way
That's the team I would have picked. At least Roy is under no pressure to win the cup, Harry, despite it being ridiculous, would have been. Its a chance for some to prove if they're worth what they get paid in the league, a chance for some to prove they're not past it. If we get to the 2nd round I'll be chuffed.
