I'm afraid that means nothing. Managers regularly issue statements when they miss out on players saying they weren't really interested (especially if they go to a rival team). In the same way they always say the player they end up getting was their first choice even if they were way down the list.
Of course you're right, see Wolves and the Terry Connor fiasco, but in this case I'm not so sure. Heskey just doesnt seem like a 'Nigel', or indeed Steve Walsh, player to me. They seem to prefer those who are more of a 'find' than someone with an existing reputation. I also dont doubt for one minute that if Lester were in for him a) they would offer more money and b) he'd rather move back home or at least live somewhere easily commutable. It is hard to commute to Hull as it is so out on a limb.
Actually I think it's true, that Sock Face isn't interested in Heskey. The thing is I don't give a sh1t about who Leicesteristan want or don't want, unless it is one of our players.
I know what you're saying but there is a precedent when Pearson bought Adebola and I think if he had been given the choice of Dele or Emile at the time he would have definitely gone for the latter. What most of the Leicester fans are saying is probably true that Heskey wanted a two year contract and Pearson only wanted to give him one year.
I'm a bit shocked that so many City fans are not keen on this signing (if it happens). Heskey is exactly what last season's team was missing, and if these people are just going to judge him on how many goals he scores then they can't have watched/understood much football in their lives. Of course it'll be better if he scores 12-15 himself rather than, say, 5-7, but the main thing is that the team scores goals and wins, and I can see him contributing massively towards those ends.
If he wasn't either crocked or out of form the last season and a bit I'd be more positive, got to be a worry that his wages will stop us getting other players in who might contribute more but hope he has a bit more left in him, who knows
