I can't believe some people are scoffing at the prospect of Heskey. I can't think of a better hold up centre forward than Heskey for a Championship team. He will bring to the team exactly what we were missing last season, some guile and hold up play. You don't get so many England caps or play for so long in the top flight if you're crap. I can't wait for the prospect of Heskey roughing up Championship defenders. He'll have a field day in this league, and he'll be a great foil for Fryatt/McClean etc. Genuinely excited at the calibre of players we're looking at. Plus we seem to be getting the mix of youth and experience spot on.
To be honest this whole virtual "no comment" thing is just a smokescreen. They said exactly the same with Bruce and turns out he'd been talking to the Allam's for weeks. IF we get Emile in, cracking signing.
Power forward that would scare championshuip defences. Plus he is perfect should Bruce wish to play NB 4-5-1 formation. Heskey can hold up the ball and bring others into play. Job done. More than a step up I would suggest. Just waiting for the news to be made official. It is a cracking signing without a doubt. The comments from Robbie Fowler - Owen and Rooney say more than anyone can say. No wonder that Matty Fryatt looks so happy in his shirt modelling pose.
The "No comment" is just part of the standard code, it means "Yes, negotiations are at an advanced stage but I've agreed that the transfer will be announced by the club." To say the same thing an agent would say "We have had no approach from the club." If the club aren't interested in the player the agent would say "Hull City are very interested in signing my player" etc etc.
It amazes me how anyone can slag this signing off or play it down, who would of though 10 years ago...even 5 years ago we'd be signing players such as EMILE HESKEY? You're forgetting where we've come from, we was an unattractive northern backwater town club who spent their days in the lower leagues and could only dream of signing an established premier league player, also ex england international. Fair enough he's not going to solve our striking problems but he adds something we need and other teams are threatened by him due to his size. Onwards and upwards!
At last we will have a goal threat from a dead ball situation. Will be able to look forward to us having a corner.
He's past it, he can only score in foreign leagues, not good enough for the championship or Hull City
Heskey would be a fantastic signing. Just curious as to his fitness, but then i guess most of would ask this question. Noted on Wiki he featured in 28 games last season
I remeber saying this when deano came back and as someone has already said on here...hes there to be a presence, to worry defences and to lay off balls to his partner up front and maybe take a pot shot himself...starts to give s some interesting options...
