I am not sure whether you are trying to wum me here. Where did I say we back off?
Of course I would love to dominate every match. The point is to win. Do you think the f******g mancs were bothered about being totally dOminated yesterday but won 3-1? Do you think they would have preferred to dominate the spuds but lost?

  2. Not wumming pal, never do.

Of course the Mancs aren't bothered but had we been dominated, would we have had as many chances to score? If we had had less chances to score would we have scored more? The point is, we played well and dominated the game. We lack a goalscorer and there is nothing we can do about that until the summer. We have to work with what we have and sitting back and hoping for a couple of chances on the break is not going to work when we are so poor at finishing. If it takes us fifteen chances to score a goal, lets aim to create thirty chances but, obviously, not at the sacrifice of the defence.

PS - I think we are sort of arguing the same thing here, just from different angles. end of the day, we both want to win games and three points.

Until the end of the season we cannot change our players so there's no point in this bitching.

If I were John Henry, I'd have given KK and DC short shrift if they'd come to me at Christmas saying "we want to spend £20+m on another striker". So OK Aguero hit the ground running at Christmas and Suarez did the same for us but just look how many other players have taken the best part of a season to settle. Add to that the fact that we have had very very limited opportunity to play Suarez, Carrol and Gerrard in the hole behind them - which was originally our prefered option.

Yes it's frustrating that we are not taking our chances but I love the football that we are playing to create them. The proof of our improvement is clearly seen in the comments on this thread - then we really would be moaning but not about conversion rates!

You guys might not agree with me on this one but, I say we start with Kuyt and Suarez every game - We seemed to play with more urgency and positivity on Saturday and I feel that if Kuyt is given game time, tghe partnership will come good. If KD can stay with those two, we should start banging the goalsin.

Really have been patient with Carroll but he just doesn't seem to be cutting it, how many times do we have to see him miss a chance and then whinge at his team mates, the ref the opponents? It gets tiresome now and at least with Kuyt, he runs into the spaces and gives Downing more options.

Damned right I don't agree with you! Despite his hard work, Kuyt's body is no longer able to keep pace with his mind. His performances have been marked in that he's been even shorter of that last yard of pace he's needed. His speed of thought used to make up for it... Consequently, despite having 1451 minutes of play in the PL this season, he's scored only once. Carroll, at least, was developing some match sharpness in Suarez' absence - 3 goals in 1352 minutes isn't great, but its much better than Kuyt's output. Now we have both available, we should be selecting both Carroll and Suarez. Bellamy is a great first change to have for the last half hour to stretch the defence...

  8. Not to mention that Carroll is the future whereas Kuyt isn't. I understand the thinking of Kuyt and Suarez though, it does look a better partnership.

I agree that Kuyt looks better - he has a fine footballing brain, much like Sheringham or Beardsley had, but Kuyt's lack of pace has always been a problem, and its looking more and more apparent. Carroll was looking match sharp and getting into useful positions - he was beginning to gel with the team - working hard to close down the back line and generally work for the cause. Loosing his starting position isn't going to improve the team, and its sure a hell not going to improve his game either. I'd rather have a committed Carroll chasing down balls and occupying the centrebacks in the box with his physical presence, than Kuyt's drifting wide and struggling to get into the box to support the attack...

  10. Would Kuyt's pace be such a problem if we had a couple of quick players around him, just like Sheringham and Beardsley did? Suarez has not got pace so the only way we could do this is on the wings, areas in which we need to improve anyway IMO. Of course, Kuyt is not as good as Sheringham or Beardsley either, certainly does not have the passing skills of that pair.
