You're kidding yourself if you think that Sunderland losing Bent wasn't as big a deal for Newcastle fans as Carroll leaving is to Sunderland fans. Both sides like to see the other 'suffer'. the only difference here is we can adapt to cope without Bent (we'd have rather not but we can) - most SAFC and NUFC fans can't see how the skunks will cope without Carroll. Bent wasn't our best player ever and was probably only our best player for 12 of the 18 months he was here. I wouldn't say he was the best player I've ever seen in an Sunderland shirt, a top striker no doubt, but overall 'player'? no. Plus we have a Ballon d'Or nominee and a Champions League winner in the squad now. I think it's safe to say Bent has been eclipsed
