Wilson was injured back end of the season wasn't he? Fraser's contract expired so don't really blame him even though the media went mad about it
Well the lad I was holding out for has gone to bayern leverkusen. I never thought it likely, but the link was there.
Personally I think this won't happen... It involves a price.. I suspect Fraser might be told all kinds of **** to try and get him to sign, but this one won't happen
I'm with you here. Ritchie is a great pro but he's limited technically, and that's been more obvious in the last two seasons. You need a team of leaders sure but I don't think we lack heart - Fernandez, Lascelles, Dummet, Hayden and Dubravka all play with passion. Almiron and Manq never stop running! What we do lack is technical quality. Fraser is a step up from Ritchie, and Wilson is from Carrol and Gayle. At the very least, Wilson is another striking option. I completely agree on the need for more quality but every team needs that. Palace and Villa have one quality creative player that are local lads. Other than that, not a huge amount. Brighton, Leeds, Fulham, and West Brom don't really have that. We're not going to be a top ten club anytime soon but you're going to need £200 million to achieve that. Everton are chucking money around (again) and are pushing for top 8.
Top 10 ever without a takeover of great magnitude... Everton have seriously rich owners, villa have seriously rich owners, wolves also. So that's Liverpool City Man united Chelsea Arsenal Tottenham Everton Aston villa Wolves That's 9 then you've got Leicester who are already up there abd have more money, you've got Qatari’s looking at Leeds and Burnley. I think Fulham have rich owners? 9 billion
Yep, and until we are taken over by an individual/consortium that can throw this kind of money around, we are going to be a lower league team. The football can be drudge sometimes but I feel one of the more optimistic on this Board. I think we'll finish 12th-15th if we bring Wilson, Fraser, Holding and a LB in. We'll have some heavy losses, some dross away games, and games where we just can't score. But we'll have some lucky wins, an unexpected result or two and a handful of games where we look good. It will be boring, frustrating but also exciting along the way. We'll stay up and fight again. Yes, that can be painful but I dont feel its all doom and gloom
We might stay up, but we're one of the worst sides in the league with the worst manager imo. Dubravka being injured sucks balls... We've got two games early on that we need to do well in.. If we start well it might go along way. If some confidence gets going that might be the difference.... Sorry for sounding doomand gloom, but I firmly believe we're a, dreadful side and I've seen no evidence that they can play anything cohisive or anything to indicate there's something in progress..
Bottom line is we're never getting taken over. Mike wants top dollar, always has, and when we finally had someone willing to pay, Coronavirus effectively disrupted capitalism and sent football on a new path. Nobody is ever going to offer what he wants again. Needless to say we will get relegated, at some point, and he's certainly not sticking a half price sticker on the club either, he'd sooner just ride it out. As has been said, clubs are seeing interest because they are genuinely decent value - Leeds, for example, Forest, Brentford, and so on. This club is stuck with Ashley now and forever, I think.
So i don't completely disagree with you, and I think what you said is very fair. There were games pre-lockdown (Bournemouth, West Ham) and post-lockdown (Sheff Utd, Bournemouth) where we played good football. There's quality there with ASM and Almiron and Fraser/Wilson would add to that, IMO.
I actually agree with you (I've just vomited a bit in my mouth). I'm kidding of course but on this occasion I don't think you are being negative. To a degree it doesn't matter who plays up front for us, we're not frustrated with Joelinton because he's missing chance after chance after chance. He's feeding off scraps and then, unfortunately, missing the chances he does get. I still think we will stay up again, but then I always do
The thing is im not sure ASM and almiron are as you say quality.. This leagues packed with better players and this summer 590 millions worth note has come in to it.. I think they're are best players by a margin, but both have major flaws... Wilson a Fraser imo woukd add depth, but I'm not convinced they're better than what we've got..
BTW I've just seen a glimmer of a suggestion that nufc still have a bid in for soumare.. Unfortunately and embarrassingly he didn't want to leave lille for nufc so badly he was prepared to not play at all rather than come here, so we can forget that.. I really want Cyprien personally although in my wish list we signed both
Speaking of money, Mike Ashley and Frasers Group are wealthier than the Liverpool owners, and King Power the Leicester owners. They're up there with Joe Lewis and the like. We're not owned by skintflint no marks. If we're stuck with Ashley for the foreseeable future, ****ing merge the club with the Group. No owners test will be required and we, like all the other top ranked clubs, will be operating as a division of a multi-billion pound corporation. It free's up resources, staff, the company will be more responsive than Ashley because of Shareholder concerns, it's got the branding of an established British company with a long history. It's just a far, far better arrangement for us and Ashley. The fact this hasn't happened confuses me.
I suspect that if you are with an ugly git you tend to be attracted by slightly less ugly gits. Of course I can’t speak from experience - maybe ACS can help out.
That applies to most rich people. They don’t sit on large piles of cash unless they are drug dealers.
