Well people were too quick as they have been for decades to think players aren't average ****e... We've seen it all too often. There was a time you had to demonstrate you were at a level for at least a couple of years...
Sometimes I wonder if we as fans think we're bigger than we actually are. The reality is we're aiming for between 10th and 17th each season, as are a number of clubs. Wilson is not the 20 goals a season striker everyone wants, but not many are. You either have to pay big bucks; take a gamble on an injury prone player (Ings); or a diamond in the rough (Pukki). Is Wilson better than Joelinton, Gayle or Carrol? Yes, 100%. Do I think he'll get 10-15 goals with Max, Almiron and potentially Fraser? Yes, 100%. Does Wilson up front with Joelinton as backup represent progress for the club? Yes. A shame to lose Ritchie but tbf, he's limited. Wilson, Fraser, Hendrick and a lb in would represent a really good transfer windows for us, imo.
You're assuming he's better than we have all im saying is I don't think he is. Forgive me but there is absolutely no evidence in his numbers that suggests I'm wrong. He's just a more popular name
Not if they are all on loans. That would be short sighted and a natural recipe for ultimate disaster. Ask the unwashed down the road.
I wouldn't turn my nose up at him. He must have been doing something right to get into the England squad. For those who swear by stats, his PL record is 1 in 3, whereas Rondon's record is 1 in 4.
Yeah i do agree that we don't want to have more than 2-3 loans in the first 15 each season, as you don't build the longevity of the team. We've got a good core group of players (Max, Almiron, Dubravka, Hayden IMO), some good squad players (Lascelles, Joelinton, Fernandez, Manquillo, Hendrick) and Wilson/Fraser add to the latter. With the Longstaffs, Dummet, Lejeune,Schar and Clark, you're only 2-3 away from a decent team. Ideally you'd like them all to be permanent signings but loans aren't the end of the world. You want to add 1 quality player (Max etc) and 2 squad players permanently each season, adding +1 to each of the group you lose before. If we got Wilson, Fraser, Hendrick and a good LB in w/o losing a Max etc then we're progressing well, IMO.
He'll just be on his own getting no service all season.. Wouldnt complain but I if people think all of sudden he can just imagine himself into goal scoring opportunities and nufc will start scoring goals then they're sorely mistaken
100% feet up and watch games on TV with his dodgy box. That might him off more than anything, and the money of course.
He's been there and got the t-shirt. We're one of the lifeboats, albeit full of holes and sinking slowly.
Honestly I think he will struggle upfront with the frantic idiots behind him and the two sloths in behind them... It would take a miracle and for our manager and coaching staff to die and be replaced with some people that know at the least their right from their left in order for any striker to start getting any service.
As It stands, whoever is up front will struggle. He's the type of player that thrives on decent service, which was lacking for all Bournemouths strikers last season. The season before last he was getting it from Brooks and Fraser. If he signs, good luck to him, as he'll need it.
