Excellent effort from Longstaff again today, both full backs will get the plaudits and rightly so, but another great shift
If it means we go undefeated for the rest of the season, then play him. You have to watch him to appreciate precisely what he does and gives I feel last season he played with a niggling injury and is getting back to his best. Long term he will need upgrading but there is no need for urgent upgrading plus he really is a squad player mid term and would be a good squad player
We played alright in the Brighton game, it was one of those that could have gone either way. Had we won that we'd have gone 3rd after winning yesterday - it's all fine margins. Think I predicted 7th and that feels about right but you only need look at the table to see we are one good weekend from European spots and one bad one from the bottom half.
The stats shout out Longstaff's use to the team. If his inclusion adds up to better performances from others, and goals, then the case is proven. I saw Longstaff's post Arsenal interview with Shearer and his undoubted loyalty to however he's used for the team was the statement of a top fella. He's very aware that he's not going to get the plaudits and is cool with this. He knows that some fans want him out of the club, but is willing to fight. I've not seen a great combination of Bruno and Tonali yet. They don't serm to complement each other anywhere as well as Longstaff/ Bruno or Joelinton/ Willock did on Saturday. I won't be calling Longstaff again. He gives something worthwhile to the team and is obviously no bother.
He’s basically that player that every team needs. Not a sexy player and just does all the dirty stuff that you need in a midfielder so a technical player can operate. It’s why Bruno gets the space he needs to do what he does. Thinking like a David Batty. Gary Speed type player.
Bruno and Tonali - Tonali plays best where EH plays Bruno and Bruno plays best further up the pitch but EH is being a stubborn twonk and won't do it
