Well obviously it depends where you're going... But take my advice don't use this route to Leicester over a 15 minute detour round the a1... the only logic for it is it's 20 miles shorter, but when you take into consideration it actually takes a lot longer, costs more in fuel even before you take the bridge toll into account, and the way you arrive into Leicester gives you a much more hellish journey around the city center to the stadium there really is no logic at all. And those roads are full of hills and dips and lorries and impatient drivers all of which adds up to a considerable danger, to my recollection most the journey are 'red route' roads which have a significant number of deaths per month all year round. Oh yeah I forgot to add the way you would go to the stadium from the a46 there is a road closed in the city center and the diversion through the side streets gets very clogged up
I travel every game to theK C from near Liecester and always use the bridge. Watch out for camera at Spittal and Lincolnshire show ground... The only 2
The simplest and quickest way around the closure is the M62 to the A1 south and down to meet the M18 again. Not that much time is lost if you put your foot down a wee bit.
No just the bit between junctions 2 and 3 southbound are closed.. Not the entire M18. You could use the M1 as another alternative. Its what works for you i guess and causes the minimum amount of delays. I just wont use side roads unless there is no other means.
