Yes, one or the other. Sagbo, Aluko, Fryatt, Jelavic, Long, Graham is far too many for a team that usually plays one up front, specially when 4 of those 6 really should be starting. Aluko can play anywhere at the front but Long, Graham and Sagbo will all be fighting for the same single spot. Guess it gives us options though as they're all 3 different styles of forwards.
I think when we get Jela/Long we'll use a new formation with two up front, with Sagbo to come off the bench second half.
I'd get both now....we've been crying out for some PL quality strikers for ages and we now have a chance to sign 2 good ones for a reasonable amount of dosh. If we only signed Jelavic and he got injured then we'd be back to square one! I think this is about planning for the future. If we stay up we'll have Jelly, Long, Sagbo, Fryatt & Aluko up top for the start of next season....sounds pretty good to me.
Yes I agree although if SB wants to persevere with 3-5-2 then either Aluko is one of the 5 or one of the 2. Same if we went 4-4-2, although if Aluko's one of the 2 it'd probably be more like 4-4-1-1. 4-2-3-1 might be interesting: McGregor Rosenior Chester/Bruce Davies Figueroa Huddlestone Livermore Elmo Aluko Brady/Boyd Jelavic/Long I also think if we get them both, then Fryatt will either be sold or loaned out for the rest of the season.
Longs wife has changed her tune. So we will just wait & c wat happens! So bore off tweeting me #muppet So now she says "what he says in the article is what he says at home! So we will just wait and see what happens". That is far different than the Long will not be switching teams nor will we be moving tweets that she was doing before. She has to be referring to this part of what Shane says in the article. “We will see what happens and what clubs come in and whether it’s a good prospect for me, but if West Brom want me to stay that’s probably what I’ll do. But I suppose if a club doesn’t want you, what’s the point in staying?" http://www.expressandstar.com/sport.../2014/01/13/shane-long-i-may-leave-west-brom/ I would say that we have a decent chance of signing him if WBA agree a fee.
Their chairman said on Sky Sports News that he's "not someone they have in the pipeline" as they're about to sign Guidetti from Manchester City on loan (depending on the Stephen Ireland deal from Villa).
Some cretins in our fanbase slagging off his wife. FFS! He's not going to come if you have a pop at his family. Some absolute bellends.
There were people having a go at Stockdale on Twitter in the week before the Cardiff game last May. Just what he'll have needed.
Could think about playing Brady LB maybe? Figgy has been been very poor IMO and Sir Alex wanted to play him there. That way we could get more technical players into the team. A 4-3-1-2 could work, with Brady and Quinn overlapping like they do brilliantly. Rosie is much more solid than Elmo at RB. Aluko can drop into spaces and also pull put wide, switching sides with long and putting balls in for Jela ------------McGregor-------------- --Rosenior-Chester--Davies--Brady- ----Livermore Huddlestone Quinn--- --------------Aluko---------------- ---------Jelavic---Long------------
I think you need Elmo in the side, but you also need Rosenior. Elmo despite his erratic defending has got a great engine and a fair amount of pace. Not sure we can deprive our starting 11 of genuine pace.
-----------McGregor-------------- --Elmo--Chester--Davies--Brady--- ----Livermore Huddlestone Aluko--- --------------Sagbo-------------- ---------Jelavic---Long-----------
They aren't. But we haven't as yet signed Long! Elmo is different to the others and gives the side balance on the right and Brady on the left.
