I still feel reluctant to offer more than £12m for Modric. £15m at a push. Bet if I worked as our negotiator I could convince 5pu1s to sell him for that much.
Transfer fees are so ridiculous now. In truth Modric is a £20-25mil player. I hate all this "ooh he means so much to the club" bullshit. He will never justify anything more than that. Bale likewise. £15mil tops but Spurs would demand £50. Torres was never really more that a £25mil striker. Still can't quite believe what we paid for him, but I love him so I'm fine with that. His transfer really did set off all the ridiculous demands that there are now.
Local Derbies always spice up the action! Next season we've got more than we've had for many a long year! Spuds, Hammers Gooners, Queens and our old buddies down the road Fulham! Happy days ahead Blues!
The club could afford to keep him this year especially as your 180k a week striker was subsidised by City. They can't this year
Even the scousers wouldn't have been desperate enough for just that. A lorry full of hubcaps and three bins full would have been enough to acquire his services.
As I keep saying - no-one subsidised Adebayor. If he was worth more than we were paying him then someone else could have had him on loan for those higher wages instead. The fact that City were paying him silly money is compeletely irrelevant.
How you managed to get him on a 6 year deal on average wages I'll never know!! Don't like Levy but he's smart with money!! TBH I think there are more exciting signings out there for us and without handing over silly money for Spurs to re-invest (unless they promise to buy Andy Carroll for 35 million of it!!!!)
This - but too much sometimes. We've lost many players and had to keep guff players because Levy's valuation usually differs by a few million compared to what the player is actually worth. We'll probably lose Vertonghen because Levy will only pay £7m or wtv instead of the £9m that Ajax want.
You'll get Vertonghen once a player only has a year left and publically declares which club is his preference more often than not the player gets his wish
As a Watford fan just about old enough to remember the "glory days" - stop sniggering at the back of the Matthew Harding stand please - I used to love the away games in London. Still do but Selhurst Park and the New Den just don't have the same allure .
