Hmmmmm. I for one reckon a Remy & Austin front line could strike fear in the hearts of a lot of defences next season. Remy one of the best finishers I've seen play for us. Ideally we need TF to get him back on the X-Box

All pure conjecture, cant believe what the papers write about price, contract terms, etc.

Surely he will go to another club, top 4/6 he deserves to play in Europe.

I hope you're right with that Supergod but Harry has stated that £8 million is his release price and that's got the sharks circling, you'd expect the manager to know what the price is...

True, but when he said that we were in the Championship when it would be easier to trigger that clause, could be a good ploy to drum up interest in him before we turn around and say we want £20-£30mill. I think the only people who will really know are the owners and the lawyers for the club who will no doubt have taken advice on it. If Liverpool can say no to Arsenal for no good reason then we can certainly say no with a good legal case behind it.

I think I'd cut him loose.

He's undoubtedly a top player and would one of, if not, the best striker in the teams that aren't challenging for Europe if we had him on the park but I think his ambitions are above playing for us and, for the sake of unity, I'd only like to see players that have the ambition of wearing the Hoops and being there when our collective ambitions are fulfilled.

You can apply that to all our other returning loanees (much as I think they are great players on the whole).

The price in the contract is a relegation clause, we are no longer relegated and so there is a legal argument that the clause is no longer valid, I doubt when they wrote out his contract they included anything about us not being able to sell him because he was on bail for rape!! I can see this being dragged through the courts to sort out, if it looks complicated then teams will probably steer clear and we might keep him, or someone may come in with a sensible offer around the £20mill mark that we will take.

Have you seen the contract? Redknapp said a couple of days ago that he has a release clause of 'not much more than we paid for him'.

The fact is we want to get rid of him, and all the other blokes not out of contract who are on ridiculous wages, because its the wages that are destroying the balance sheet. Cesar, Remy, Granero all on massive wedges. I wouldn't be surprised if we listened to offers for Barton as well, to get the £70k a week off the books. If we piss away all the TV money on transfer fees, wages and paying stupid fines we end up even worse off.

Remy 'earns' £80k a week. We can't afford to keep him, end of. He will go for £8-10m, and we will save £12m plus whatever bonuses may have been due over the next 3 years of his contract. So there's your £20m.

Let's be honest....at the present time, he is just too good for us.

Thanks Loic, no hard feelings, I wish you all the best in the future (but just don't score against us)

Sadly I don't think that we'll see Remy in hoops again, and if he doesn't want to be here then cut him loose and use the money towards signing Jordan Rhodes.

I could see Austin and Rhodes being a real handful in the prem. Both young homegrown lads, whose best years are ahead, with a lot of hunger and, further down the road, a great potential sell on price (and before anyone says it I know that Rhodes is supposedly "Scottish", just like Matty Mc-Phillips). <ok>

Rhodes went to Blackburn for £8m. Are we really going to let Remy go for the same money? Surely Swiss Tony will be sweet talking him

I don't think it's a case of 'letting' him go. If a club offers £8m we are contractually obliged to accept and the only thing that could stop the deal is Remy failing to agree terms.
