I find this fascination some fans have with loyalty very strange. Why exactly should Loic Remy show any loyalty to Newcastle United? He's not from Newcastle, not been with te club his entire career etc. These players aren't fighting for their country, they are playing a sport, and most of them are in it purely for the money. It's simply a job to them.

    A valid point.

If I were a footballer I'd consider other factors of course... but in a short career family comes first so money has to be front of mind.

I don't really mind players earning loads of money but don't agree with this "short career argument", even at £25k a week, in a year they have earned the national average wage for 52yrs. That's on a "modest" £25k.
Like I say I'm not having a pop about what they earn, just the idea that its because its such a short career is why.

Anyway, this thread ain't about players wages and as such I hope we sign Remy or Ba but would be over the moon if we could get Lukaku.... even on loan

Sounds like Loic Remy is off to Liverpool. According to GFNFrance though we did offer £15million for him a few days ago - met the release clause for clubs not in European competition but Remy turned us down because he wanted to join a Champions League team.

So, bad news that we wont be getting Remy but interesting that we offered close to our record transfer fee for him. If we have that much to spend surely some of the other names mentioned become genuine options - Benteke, Aubameyang, Lacazette, Lukaku...

There are also growing rumours that we want to sign one more CM and one CB as well as the striker before we call it a day in this transfer window.

Remy has gone to Liverpool for under £9 million by all accounts. Cracking deal for them.
