I would have thought they were viewing any deal for Remy as out of the ordinary due to his upcoming rape case. Understandably reluctant to pay £8million for potentially 6 months of football and then a unsaleable player at the end of it. A loan in this instance made good sense as we could go ahead and buy him in January if he hasn't been found guilty and assuming he's been doing well for us.

As a player, I think he will be ideal for NUFC and should settle well into the team.

Got to admit, whilst I was leading the cries of FFS when 'Arry made his little announcement, I then remembered he's ALWAYS talking sh!t when it comes to transfers. He's the master of misdirection. He did admit that it's down to Tony (Fernandes), I just imagine the sticking point - as usual - is the final price. Well be offering probably around £5m, they'll want their £8m back.

People need not worry. Yes they want to recuperate the money they paid, but if we get Remy with a view to a permanent deal then they will get their money eventually. Not as if they're in any financial trouble!

I read somewhere that he has a £7mil release clause if QPR went down, not sure how trustworthy this is but it's hopeful. Think they're just debating the loan fee

    Lee Ryder ‏@lee_ryder 20m

#nufc now facing competition from #thfc for Loic Remy after inquiry to #QPR

I hope this is one of the many occasions when Lee Ryder has got it completely wrong, because if Spurs are in for him it isn't 'competition', it's game over.

If as it appears likely that the Spuds have agreed a deal with RM for Bale, they will have seriously money to burn. You can see them throwing it around, and us getting caught in the backwash. Starting with Remy and then with possible bids for one or two of our players.

We could offer to buy Remy now at a fee equal to the loan fee with bonuses of a sum equal to his buyout fee once he plays say 50 games or75 games by which time the rape allegation would hopefully have been sorted one way or another.

If he isn't charged and convicted then he will play the requisite number of games and if he is charged and convicted then he won't and we won't have to pay.

Only issue would be to guess the number of games by which time the rape allegation will have been resolved.

Also could have option to pay balance of fee immediately if rape allegation does not proceed.

Surely that would appeal to Fernandez rather than sell for a reduced fee if someone comes in to buy now as surely no-one stupid enough to risk £6.8m or £8m whatever the buyout fee is and would only offer lesser fee due to risk.

This was always going to happen As we have been pissing around all week with this daft loan idea.
We are a complete joke these days
As soon as the loan deal was suggested I knew we would lose out

Bottom line is if we get to the end of the window and haven't signed anyone, then the management team can suck a nut. I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt up until the very close of the window, but if it looks sh!t then it'll be time to do whatever we all can in our limited individual capacities. I don't agree with the "team/regime" protests yet - Ashley's a snidey fecker and things like that do more harm than good right now, we need him investing, not pulling in the purse strings just to spite the supporters.

We need something to happen quick and before the season starts, if we drop points in the winnable games in August its going to be a long season.
Ref a forward they have had since January to sort it.

If we don't sign two strikers the upcoming months will be wretched. I honestly believe though we will sign at least one, we can't afford not to.

'Arry is now saying that Remy will go on loan, but that the loan fee will be £2million:

    “He’s a player who’s going on loan.

“If you were buying Loic Remy for £8million, which there were clubs to buy him for, if you gave him a four year contract and he ran that down and was a free agent, he’d cost you £2million a year.

“If somebody wants to loan him they’d be entitled to pay £2million for him.”

So we loan him for £2m, then pay £6m in May. Job done.
