Unfortunately I couldn't get worked up about that. Though there is little doubt he was dodgy. Not the only time English clubs were on the wrong end of dodgy referees going right back to Shankly's time and carrying on through .Derby County's foray into Europe.

Brian Glanville. There is a proper journalist.

Though there is no doubt Leeds were hard done by people tend to overlook the horrific challenge right at the start by Yorath which saw a Bayern player stretchered off yet he didn't get sent off. A German cameraman lost the sight in one eye after being hit with a flying seat when the Leeds fans kicked off. After the rioting, which was the latest in quite a long list of troubke in European games UEFA seriously considered scrapping European competitions.

In the Boothferry Park days when we had no cash The Healeys donated money to city without wanting or needing recognition

The Healeys have helped Hull City a lot more than many would realise, but they do not want the publicity / hassle that comes with running a football club. They’re decent folk

Yes the vermin also believe they were diddled out of it against AC Milan in the ECWC Final in Greece in 1973.

What goes around comes around eh?

Arguably the most secure building in East Yorkshire. The security system is second to none and is often used by Humberside Police and the security service to store sensitive material.

I shouldn't be divulging such information but he ho it's only National Security.

Whatever Needler’s intensional was, regarding putting money into city, he was the best owner of this club, he provided money to entice very good players to this club and the best attacking football I have seen city play, and that includes city in the premiership

    Healeys are white ****e fans.

They do support a lot of local people in sporting and other areas. They never publicise it.

Maybe there were no landings that day? As I said, whether ourselves or Grimsby ever used the dispensation I am not aware of.

55,000 tickets were sold for that game. A transport strike meant the not fill house. Amazing, in the days when hardly anyone had a car and no public transport that nearly 50,000 made it. Nowadays it wouldn't happen. And I bet they weren't streaming out 10 minutes early as they had to get home for their tea.
Of course the good attendance could have been down to there being nothing to do in Hull...

Why did you lose thousands after a mediocre season then?
    1967 average 24000. 1968 average15000

Can't have been much of a joy can it?

    Good excuse now isn't there.

What was the excuse back then? It was great you've jus told us. So how do you explain ten thousand fans stopping going.

Because there isn't a massive fanbase in Hull. Crowds have always gone up and down by wide margins. Some fans used to clamber on board and just as quickly disembark. Crowds for Cup games, even against poor teams, saw the crowds increase hugely then drop down again.35,000 against Huddersfield Boxing Day 1966, next home game 22,000. Millwall 40,000 Boxing Day, next game 22,000.
After waiting over 100 years for top flight football people excusing non full stadium by saying the novelty hadcworn off after 3 seasons in the top flight.
I always told people round my way that if we ever got to the top division and had any cup success Boothferry Park which then held 40,000+ wouldn't be big enough. Unfortunately some folk remember that and delight in reminding me of it.

So we're fickle ****ers then. Is that just Hull or is the East Riding feckless as well?

Edit I pad changed fickle to feckless!! Only for the East Riding tho...

I would say the percentage of East Riding fans who persevere is higher. Only a personal observation, no way of definitely knowing one way or the other. The majority of City fans I know still go.

Whoah, whoah, whoah...let's crunch some numbers

    City got 12, 233 yesterday
    Vermin got 33,699

But Hull pop. is 284k, vermin pop. is 780k

So pro rata we are almost identical attendance-wise against total pop as a percentage.

We're doing **** , worst in well over a decade and they're flying....yet their attendances are no better than ours in real terms.

    FACT
